Tax Accountant
Job DescriptionPluralsight is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Tax Professional to join our tax team. This role is ideal for a proactive problem solver who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys working across a broad range of tax matters. The position will focus approximately 70% on indirect taxes (including VAT, sales/use tax, and related compliance) and 30% on direct taxes (federal, state, and international reporting).This individual will play a key role in ensuring compliance, improving processes, and supporting the company’s growing global operations.Who You’re Committed To BeingYou enjoy learning and are open to new ways of doing things.You are not afraid to be yourself, experiment, make mistakes and learn from them, ask questions, or voice your concerns.When communicating you are self-aware, insightful, and proactive.What You’ll DoIndirect Tax (70%)Prepare global VAT/GST compliance, including filings, reconciliations, and registrationsU.S. sales and use tax compliance, including return preparation and nexus analysisMonitor and interpret changes in indirect tax laws and assess impact on the businessPartner with internal teams (billing, legal, finance, product) to ensure proper tax treatment of transactionsSupport indirect tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authoritiesDrive process improvements and automation in indirect tax reportingDirect Tax (30%)Assist with U.S. federal and state income tax compliance, including workpapers and return supportSupport international tax reporting, including Forms 5471, 8858, and related disclosuresContribute to provision calculations (ASC 740), including current and deferred tax analysisAssist with transfer pricing documentation and intercompany transactionsSupport tax planning initiatives and research technical issuesExperience You’ll BringProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)Experience with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive)Experience with NetSuiteExperience with FloQastExposure to tax automation tools (e.g., Avalara) is a plusStrong experience in indirect taxes (VAT/GST, sales/use tax) requiredWorking knowledge of U.S. federal and state income tax conceptsExposure to international tax reporting and cross-border issuesStrong analytical and problem-solving mindset with attention to detailAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentExcellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearlyProcess-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement and automationSelf-starter who takes ownership and drives resultsCollaborative team playerRequirementsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred or in progress)3-5+ years of relevant tax experience (public accounting and/or industry)Hybrid Work Model: This role follows a hybrid schedule, with on-site work at our Westlake/Dallas, TX office Tuesday through Thursday and remote flexibility on Mondays and Fridays. Actual compensation will depend on location, skills, experience, and other factors.
