Customer Service RepresentativeThe Customer Service Representative provides front desk reception, cashiering, and customer account support services for the wastewater billing department. This position serves as a primary point of contact for customers by assisting with utility billing inquiries, processing payments, maintaining accurate account records, and supporting daily administrative operations.Examples of Work:Greet customers and process wastewater utility payments accurately.Answer phone calls and assist customers with wastewater billing inquiries, account balances, and account updates.Monitor voicemails and customer service emails, ensuring timely responses and follow-up.Process billing adjustments and maintain accurate customer account records.Resolve customer billing concerns professionally and escalate complex issues when needed.Support daily office operations, including mail distribution and front desk coverage.Maintain accuracy and professionalism in a high-volume customer service environment.Physical Requirements and Work Environment:The work environment is a typical open-office environment. This includes answering calls on a telephone, in-person at a window, handling printouts, mail, and accepting deliveries, with regular transitioning from sitting to standing. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively. Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.Desirable Qualifications:Training and experience: Graduation from high school with business courses or job-related experience. Previous experience in utility billing, municipal government, customer service, cashiering, or reception work is preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:One (1) to two (2) years of customer service or clerical experience preferred. Bilingual Spanish-speaking skills are highly desirable. Ability to accurately handle cash and credit card transactions. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage difficult customer interactions with professionalism, patience, and tact. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
