For more information, visit us at www.26n.com.Job Description26North is seeking an Assistant Controller to play a critical role in supporting the growth of our insurance and reinsurance businesses. The platform has two reinsurance companies in Bermuda with approximately $10 billion in assets with two cedants, two credit facilities, two co-investment entities, and a holding company. The platform has significant commitments from third party investors to drive expansion of the balance sheet. As an Assistant Controller, you will have responsibility for a broad range of activities including building a control-based infrastructure for the consolidated accounting and reporting of our reinsurance business under STAT/GAAP/EBS methodologies.The role will be responsible for forecasting the business and comparing actual results to the forecast for consumption by key stakeholders including the founder of 26North and the board. The role will also be responsible for managing the Bermuda-based management team and overseeing the day-to-day finance and accounting operations of the companies.The ideal candidate brings a strong alternatives accounting and insurance foundation, thrives in a high-growth environment, and is excited to take ownership of critical deliverables while continuously improving processes and infrastructure.ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement financial and operational best practices to support the growth and evolution of the platformBuild and oversee the accounting function including internal and outsourced providersResearch and design strategies and systems to improve efficiency as it pertains to accounting and financial reportingOversee the preparation of the quarterly financial statements, capital account statements, marketing letters, performance reporting, capital calls, distribution notices, settlement reportsPerform management fee calculations, expense accruals, budgeting, and forecastingCollaborate with investment professional, legal and compliance, business development, and operations to ensure proper controls are in place to support current and future businessQualifications5-12+ years of experience in a related function (insurance accountant, consultant, financial advisor)Experience with STAT/GAAP/EBS preferredInvestment Accounting and/or financial planning experience preferredCPA preferredExperience in collaborating with executive leadership and third-party partners to drive operational performance and shape a culture that is focuses on continuous improvementAbility to work and think independently under time constraintsHigh commitment and strong self-motivation with an entrepreneurial spiritExceptional attention to detail and ability to prioritize and manage multiple deliverablesStrong track record and demonstrated commitment to upholding our core values of excellence, teamwork, stewardship, integrity, and respectBenefits 26North offers a competitive base salary and discretionary bonus based on performance as well as a comprehensive benefits package.
