Any incomplete applications may not be considered*\nJob Overview\nAs a Direct Support Professional for Abilities Plus, your day will consist of working with our clients in a residential setting. You will be their primary caregiver and will be tasked with making meals with them, assisting them with basic hygeine which includes restrooming and showering, passing medications, and taking the clients out into the public for Community Integration outings. You will also be interacting with our clients within the home by playing games and other fun activities.\nDuties\nAssist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support\nMonitor residents’ health status by taking vital signs and observing for any changes in condition\nAdminister medications following care plans and HIPAA regulations\nSupport residents during meal preparation and feeding, ensuring nutritional needs are met\nOperate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts and ensure safe transfer techniques\nMaintain a clean and safe environment through light housekeeping tasks including cleaning and sanitation\nDocument care activities accurately in accordance with agency policies and procedures\nEngage residents in social activities to promote mental well-being and community involvement\nFollow individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs, including dementia, Alzheimer’s, autism, or memory care requirements\nRespond promptly to emergencies with appropriate first aid or CPR if necessary\nCollaborate with healthcare professionals to monitor patient progress and update care strategies accordingly\nRequirements\nPrior experience in group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or home health/care settings preferred\nHigh School diploma or equivalent.\nDSP certification preferred (training provided within first 120 days).\nExperience working with individuals with developmental or physical disabilities preferred.\nValid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to complete van driver training.\nAbility to lift up to 20 lbs., assist with transfers, and perform physical job duties.\nMust pass background checks and maintain CPR, First Aid, and medication certifications.\nAbility to work in environments with moderate noise and occasional exposure to bodily fluids.\nAbility to perform heavy lifting when necessary and assist with resident transfers using proper techniques (e.g., Hoyer lift)\nStrong observational skills for patient monitoring and safety assessment\nExcellent communication skills for effective interaction with residents, families, and team members\nCompassionate attitude with a focus on respectful person-centered care\nAbility to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment\nKnowledge of medication administration protocols and adherence to safety standards in healthcare settings\nMust be able to pass ILDOT Drug Screen (includes marijuana)\nAbilities Plus is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) employer.
