The IDE is responsible for the full lifecycle of physical installation projects, including coordinating LVC schedules, performing rigorous Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) checks on contractor work, and ensuring final installation adheres to all design standards, safety codes, and labeling policies.ResponsibilitiesProject Oversight & Contractor Management\r\nServe as the primary on-site technical point of contact for the Low Voltage Contractor (LVC) and internal engineering teams.\r\nManage the LVC's deployment schedule, ensuring adherence to project milestones and reporting progress and delays to project management.\r\nCoordinate access, material delivery, and staging areas with data center facility operations.\r\nAct as a remote hands expert for remote engineering teams during deployment and validation activities.\r\nQuality Assurance (QA) & Quality Control (QC)\r\nPerform comprehensive, multi-stage QA inspections on all LVC work, including rack placement, server/device racking, cable routing, and labeling.\r\nEnsure all infrastructure, including racks, servers, network devices, and storage units, are installed and grounded according to BoM and design documentation.\r\nFiber Optic and Cabling Validation:\r\nConduct or directly oversee optical loss testing (OLTS), OTDR analysis, and insertion/return loss evaluations on all installed fiber links (Single-Mode and Multi-Mode).\r\nVerify copper (Cat6a/Cat8) cable integrity and pin-out using certified testers.\r\nEnsure all patch panels, trunks, patch cords, and cable management systems comply with code.\r\nManage vendor/partner relationships, contracts, and SLAs for installation quality.\r\nSubject Matter Expertise & Documentation\r\nAct as the organization's SME for fiber optic infrastructure and structured cabling best practices (e.g., BICSI standards).\r\nReview, interpret, and validate design documentation, rack elevation diagrams, and fiber schematics for constructability.\r\nGenerate detailed final test reports, as-built documentation, and root cause analysis (RCA) reports for any issues encountered during deployment.\r\nEducate and coach internal full-time employees on fiber maintenance and cable management best practices.\r\nManage closeout activities and handoff to the operations team.Basic QualificationsMinimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in data center or mission-critical infrastructure deployment.\r\nTravel Ready: Comfortable with 40% travel for extended onsite deployments during datacenter turn-ups. Remote-based but willing to be wherever the work is. You understand that deployment leadership means showing up when it's hard.\r\nDeep technical expertise (SME level) in fiber optic systems, including design standards, installation techniques, and advanced testing methodologies (OTDR, VFL, Power Meter).\r\nProven experience in physical infrastructure installation, including the racking, stacking, and cabling of servers, network, and storage hardware.\r\nAbility to read, interpret, and translate technical drawings and schematics (e.g., AutoCAD, Visio).\r\nStrong organizational skills with a proven track record of driving projects to completion and dealing well with ambiguity.Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.\r\nIndustry certifications such as BICSI RCDD or relevant vendor certifications (e.g., Cisco, Juniper).\r\nExperience with hyperscale or large-scale data center environments and standardization programs.\r\nFamiliarity with IT service operations frameworks (e.g., ITIL).Salary & BenefitsCompetitive total compensation package (salary + equity).\r\nRetirement or pension plan, in line with local norms.\r\nHealth, dental, and vision insurance.\r\nGenerous PTO policy, in line with local norms.The base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $250,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
