Taking a practitioner-first approach in everything we do makes it possible for health and wellness practitioners to devote more time to their clients while they use SimplePractice to start, grow, and maintain a successful private practice.\nThe Role\nSimplePractice is seeking a Payroll Manager to lead our team in executing all payroll and payroll related compliance activities across the Company's various states and domestic jurisdictions. In this \"hands-on\" position, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams across HR, Accounting, and Finance across all levels within the organization. The Payroll Manager will report into the Controller and will be a key member of the finance organization.\nResponsibilities\nLead payroll operations to provide accurate and efficient payroll services to all employees\nOversee full payroll processing cycle including the preparation and processing of bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls\nManage the relationship of external payroll service providers and monitor the effectiveness of the processing services provided by the vendor\nResponsible for tracking and driving state and local registration requirements for withholding and UI related compliance\nAudit various payroll reports for accuracy\nKeep abreast of federal, state, and local legal, benefit and tax requirements by reviewing existing and new legislation\nFacilitate processing of year-end W2s and other required forms to employees\nResponsible for driving changes within payroll process and supporting systems to appropriately facilitate new types of compensation or changes within the business\nPerform research and analysis of payroll related tax issues as they arise.\nMaintain and update documentation of payroll process and procedures\nResponsible for responding to and managing payroll related audits from various federal, state and local jurisdictions\nOperate with a mindset of continuous performance improvement to streamline and automate as opportunities arise\nLead, recommend, and participate in department projects to continually review and improve current processes\nAdditional tasks and payroll-related responsibilities to keep pace with growing global organizational needs\nPartner with Human Resources to drive improvements within the HRIS system\nOwn payroll testing for new pay components and new tax deductions\nPartner with Benefits Team on new PFL deductions for individual states\nOwn creating and testing new payroll deductions, as needed\nTroubleshoot payroll \"errors\"/questions in Workday\nDesired Skills & Experience\nBachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting or related field preferred, but not required. Will certainly consider equivalent professional experience.\n5+ years of payroll experience. Prior Payroll Manager experience preferred.\nKnowledge of multi-state payroll practices with high emphasis on CA payroll laws\nExperience with benefit tax treatments\nAdvanced knowledge of Workday is highly desired\nOther technical skills include a strong proficiency across the Microsoft Office Suite (Advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred)\nMotivated self started with the ability to work independently\nStrong communication skills with the ability to work cross functionally across multiple different departments\nCertified Payroll Professional (CPP) is highly desired\nBase Compensation Range\n$90,000 - $120,000 annually\nBase salary is one component of total compensation. Employees may also be eligible for an annual bonus or commission. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay.\nThe above represents the expected base compensation range for this job requisition.
