School Counselor (Summer Session Only)Stanley G. Falk School | Buffalo, NY Pay: Starting at $33.97 per hour ($7,133.70 per summer session) Schedule: Monday - Friday | 7:35 AM - 2:35 PM This is a temporary summer session position only, this role will run from July 6th until August 14th. Enjoy a school-day schedule, paid holidays, and school breaks while making a meaningful difference in the lives of students. The Stanley G. Falk School, one of the largest Special Education Day Schools in New York State, serves students across four Western New York locations. Falk classrooms are intentionally small, typically serving six students supported by one teacher and one teacher aide, allowing staff to build meaningful relationships and provide individualized support. This temporary summer opportunity is ideal for certified School Counselors, Social Workers, or individuals currently pursuing certification who are passionate about supporting students with diverse learning and behavioral needs in a collaborative educational environment. Responsibilities include: -Provide individual and group counseling services to students according to their IEPs. -Assess student needs using formal and informal methods and develop appropriate interventions. -Collaborate with teachers and staff to support student learning, social-emotional growth, and behavior management. -Provide guidance and support to parents, including conferences, group meetings, and referrals to appropriate specialists. -Serve as a resource and consultant to administration and staff regarding student and school-related issues. -Respond calmly and effectively to students with extreme or escalating behaviors, using Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) techniques as needed. -Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating appropriate behavior, problem-solving, and anger management skills.
