Job TitleCivil Court Clerk - CPay RateUnited States of America (Hourly)Time TypeFull timeSummaryDuties and Responsibilities:Maintains hearing, jury and non-jury trial daily docketsPrepares court correspondenceCoordinates the appearance of parties for cases scheduled on the daily docketAdministers oaths and takes proofs for parties involved in individual casesPerforms data entry and computer research of individual case, court date and dismissal or appeal informationAnswers questions in person and by telephone regarding court proceduresMaintains case filesMakes certified copies of legal documentsPrepares court case reports and statisticsPerforms other duties as requiredMinimum Qualifications:High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate, and three (3) years judicial system experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experienceGood knowledge of civil courtroom procedures; good knowledge of basic legal terminology; good knowledge of alphabetic and numeric file maintenanceSkill in understanding and applying State Judicial CodeAbility to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; ability to accurately enter data; ability to perform basic mathematical calculations; ability to operate personal computer, typewriter and basic office equipment; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees, Elected/Appointed Officials, attorneys and the publicActs in the name of the District Clerk and shall perform all official acts as may be lawfully done and performed by such Clerk in person, pursuant to Section 51.303 of the Texas Government CodeMust be bondableMust have legible penmanshipMust be able to type 40 wpm with no more than 7 errorsMust secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearanceMust clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen testMay be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweekWorking Environment and Physical Demands:Constantly working in indoor conditionsOccasionally moves items weighing up to 40 poundsOccasionally moves about the officeFrequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate informationConstantly operates a computer and other office productivity machineryPositions self to perform essential functionsMust be able to remain in a stationary positionWorking With Bexar CountyBexar County offers employees a competitive salary, retirement, and benefits.
