Designer / Engineer","description":"Network Designer / EngineerLocation: Clinton, CTDuration: 6+ MonthsOverview:The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, installing, maintaining, and supporting LAN, WAN, Server, SAN, and VoIP infrastructures.Provide high-level technical support for voice, fiber, storage, and data network systems.Lead projects used to maintain current operating levels for infrastructure systems.Research emerging technologies to enhance network performance and provide operating efficiencies.Assist with administration of security devices such as firewall, IDS, Proxy, and VPN.Remediate vulnerabilities detected in the networking infrastructure and related systems.Ensure customer focus and communication through all aspects of the assigned responsibilities.Provide regular updates to management on the status of such projects.Maintain network security infrastructure, review system logs, monitors system security, and configure network security related devices.Support for all Unified Communications projects, services, and related phone equipment.Support SAN and vmWare infrastructure.Work with outside agencies or organizations for network, security, and voice services.Provide input on budgets for all infrastructure related projects in support of the IT Capital Budget process.Research new networking and telecommunication technologies.Develop business case and strategy for implementation where appropriate.Licenses/Certifications:Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Expert knowledge of network design, installation, and maintenance.Expert knowledge of network security.Knowledge of the OSI network model, Ethernet, and TCP/IP networking.Experience with Data Center networking technologiesExperience with VMwareExperience with Cisco Unified CommunicationsExperience with Windows Server Operating SystemsMust have a practical level of experience implementing and administering common TCP/IP-based services, including DNS, DHCP, HTTP, FTP, SSH, SMTP,
