The Pharmacist will be responsible for the implementation/compliance with Pharmacy\npolicies and procedures. The Pharmacist will also comply with federal and state requirements for\nmonitoring and reporting. They will monitor the performance of pharmacy staff to ensure all tasks and\nfunctions are conducted as required.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other\nduties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with\ndisabilities to perform the essential functions.\nPractices within scope of licensure and maintains active license\nEnsures the quality and safe preparation of medications to assigned patients\nScreens medication orders for accuracy, contraindications, and drug interactions\nSupervises all pharmacy department staff to ensure proper workflow\nCompletes competency assessments on pharmacy technician staff and maintains in personnel file.\nAssists with the oversight and responsibility for Pharmacy Staff orientation/continued training\nEnsures security of the pharmacy area\nMaintains inventory levels within acceptable standards\nMaintains vendor relationships with computer hardware/software companies, drug wholesalers,\npharmaceutical manufacturers, and GPO\nServes as a resource to all professional staff for questions or other information relating to the use\nof pharmaceuticals\nAdhere to a delivery schedule for all prepared prescriptions\nProvides and promotes education to patients, patient families and the community about pharmacy\nproducts and services\nInforms Pharmacist in Charge of patient comments and complaints\nResponsible for the effective operation of the pharmacy\nResponsible for ensuring that products and services which are delivered have complete and\nappropriate documentation regarding products delivered client education and businesspaperwork\nResponsible to communicate patient needs to physicians and case managers in a professional\nmanner\nResponsible to monitor client’s medical needs over the phone as required\nPerforms competency assessments at least annually under the supervision of a peer.\nPerforms QA studies as needed (competency assessments)\nParticipate in meetings of the company to include Staff Committee requiring pharmacy\nrepresentation as needed\n1\nTwenty percent (20%) of overall responsibilities are dedicated to Quality Management\nMonitor staff performance according to objectives and Quality Management Program\nPromotes effective written/verbal communications\nPromotes and maintains pharmacy compliance with accrediting organization standards (URAC)\nPromotes and maintains compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory agencies regarding\nthe operation of the pharmacy to include FDA mandates and manufacturer restrictions for specific\ndrugs\nPromotes education for company employees\nPromotes the education of patients, patient families, and the community\nParticipates in personal professional growth and development\nCompletes the required CEUs mandated to maintain licensure and/or minimum of 8 hours of in-\nservice and training per year\nOther job relevant tasks as requested and necessary\nCompetencies:\nTo perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following:\nEffective Communication – Use multiple ways to communicate to others on a daily and consistent\nbasis and keep manager informed on important matters. Exposure to\nmanaged care preferred.\nLicensing/Specialized Skills:\n● An unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in the state of employment\n● Independence with regards to clinical discussions and evaluations\n● Ability to use pharmaceutical and medical references literature to provide drug\ninformation to health plans, patients and prescribers\n● 2\nnd language spoken preferred\n2\n● Management skills preferred\n● Good interpersonal skills required\nComputer/Technical Skills:\n● Familiarity with computer and Windows PC applications, which includes the ability to\nlearn new and complex computer system application\n● Digital dexterity e.g. use of computer keyboard\n● Knowledge of computer programs\n● Telephone skills\nPhysical and Mental Requirements:\n● Individuals may need to stand for excessive amounts of time.
