This role supports the production of lasers, gain chips, and other III-V photonic devices by operating advanced semiconductor equipment, maintaining process control, and ensuring high-quality wafer output.\n\nThe Op2 operator works with moderate supervision and plays a key role in process stability, yield improvement, and WIP flow management.\n\nResponsibilities\nWafer Processing & Equipment Operation\n\nIndependently operate semiconductor equipment, including:\n\nPhotolithography tools (spin coat, mask aligner, developer)\n\nDry etch systems (ICP/RIE) and chemical wet etch stations\n\nThin film deposition (PECVD, sputtering)\n\nExecute process steps according to SOPs and process recipes\n\nPerform wafer handling with high care to prevent damage or contamination\n\nEnsure proper lot tracking and movement through MES/travelers\n\nProcess Monitoring & Quality Control\n\nMonitor critical process parameters (temperature, pressure, gas flow, alignment accuracy)\n\nPerform in-process inspections:\n\nOptical microscope inspection\n\nFilm thickness/index/stress measurement (profilometer/ellipsometer/flexus)\n\nIdentify abnormal conditions and deviations from process specs\n\nEscalate issues to Op3 or Technician as needed\n\nWIP Management & Documentation\n\nAccurately record process data, equipment logs, and lot history\n\nTrack wafer status and ensure correct process flow progression\n\nSupport cycle time targets and prioritize lot movement\n\nContinuous Improvement & Engineering Support\n\nAssist in engineering runs, DOE experiments, and process qualifications\n\nProvide feedback on process issues and yield trends\n\nSupport implementation of process improvements\n\nMinimum Qualifications\n\nHigh school diploma or equivalent\n\nWorking knowledge of:\n\nThin film deposition processes\n\nDry and wet etching techniques\n\nPhotolithography processes (coating, alignment, exposure, development)\n\nFamiliarity with semiconductor process flow, especially for III-V / InP devices\n\nAbility to operate and troubleshoot fab equipment with minimal supervision\n\nStrong attention to detail and contamination control\n\nAbility to follow SOPs while recognizing abnormal conditions\n\nExperience with MES systems and electronic lot tracking\n\nBasic data recording and interpretation (SPC awareness preferred)\n\nAbility to work in a cleanroom environment for extended periods\n\nHandling of chemicals (acids, solvents) with proper safety procedures\n\nHandling fragile III-V wafers with precision\n\nAbility to wear full cleanroom gown (including mask, gloves, and suit)\n\nDesired Qualifications\n\nAssociate degree in electronics, semiconductor manufacturing, or related field\n\n2–3 years of experience in semiconductor wafer fabrication (III-V or photonics preferred)\n\nExperience in cleanroom environment (Class 100–1000)\n\nGood communication and teamwork\n\nAbility to work in a fast‑paced production environment\n\nStrong sense of ownership and accountability\n\nA reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $24 - $30.
