Today, City Light is a recognized national leader in energy efficiency and environmental stewardship.The Project Delivery Division’s Strategic Capital Programs is looking for a Capital Projects Coordinator, Supervisor. Strategic Capital Programs oversees a diverse capital improvement program within the Project Delivery Division, managing high-profile utility relocation investment projects, including Facilities projects.The Capital Projects Coordinator, Supervisor will manage three (3) Capital Projects Coordinator, Senior project managers delivering Facilities projects. This position reports to an office in downtown Seattle, overseeing projects at Seattle City Light’s Seattle area buildings and service centers, substations, and various other facilities, as well as three hydropower facilities located in the beautiful scenic Cascade mountains and at Boundary Dam in northeastern Washington.The supervisor will spend approximately half-time managing complex projects and half-time supervising. Supervision tasks include overseeing work assignments, reporting, and assisting with Project Management Framework compliance. Most projects involve designing, planning, construction, and closeout of facilities maintenance and upgrade projects for City Light owned buildings and infrastructure.This position will report to the Strategic Capital Programs Manager.Job ResponsibilitiesHere Is More About What You’ll Be DoingSupervises subordinates involved in coordinating construction projects for a department or major program in a department. Reviews subordinates' work products, evaluates performance, approves vacations and leaves of absences, and performs other personnel administrative tasks. Attends planning meetings to determine objectives, program plans and project scopes. Plans, budgets, schedules and monitors the more complex capital and other City funded/sponsored projects to ensure compliance with plans, directives, and guidelines. Develops and negotiates schedules for design and construction; monitors and coordinates activities of contractors, consultants and users during construction phase. Develops specifications and negotiates contracts for design and construction of projects. Supervises project closeout and budget reconciliation and evaluation. Prepares reports, correspondence, and official documents regarding capital and other City funded/sponsored project status, progress, or payments. Prepares information for the Capital Improvement Budget for all assigned capital project plans. Directs public relations work activities associated with capital and other City funded/sponsored project programs and gives presentations. Manages special or unique projects or portions of projects. QualificationsRequired Qualifications: In addition to the skills and experience mentioned below, a successful applicant will have experience that reflects a commitment to creating fair and equitable outcomes and has: Education/ExperienceMinimum 5 years project or construction management or related experience.Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Architecture, Urban Planning or related field and supervisory ability (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent backgrounds required to perform the work of the class).Certification/License:Current Washington State driver's license or equivalent mobility may be required.Work Environment/Physical DemandsMost work is performed in a normal City work/office environmentField assignments entail exposure to all types of weather and hazardous construction sites.Desired Qualifications - You will be successful if you have the following experience, skills, and abilities: Experience managing projects in a government settingSupervisory experienceExperience with a variety of contracting approaches including consultant contracts, public works, Job Order Contracting (JOC), and design-build.Experience managing projects that are implemented by in-house crews.Project Management Professional certificate from the Project Management InstitutePlease note this job advertisement is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
