As a Senior Manufacturing / Process Engineer, you will focus on developing new composite structures and enhancing existing structures manufactured in the composite bonding area. At ST Engineering MRAS, we are also rapidly augmenting our maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities leveraging the company’s expanded aircraft nacelle portfolio as well as it’s materials and processing expertise.\n\nWhat YOU will do\n\nEnsure compliance with engineering specifications, processes, and procedures that support the manufacturing of carbon fiber reinforced composite structures, including:\n\nProcess Specifications\nMaterial Specifications\nTooling Design, Manufacturing, and Geometry Buy-Off via modeling software\nSupport the development of detailed cost models and cost-reduction initiatives.\nAssist in capital purchases by preparing comprehensive Statements of Work.\nReview, interpret, and approve engineering drawings and specifications.\nDevelop and maintain bonding work instructions, repair plans, and vendor fabrication instructions.\nDesign and implement new and revised bonding and inspection tooling.\nDevelop and implement effective repair plans to restore product compliance.\nSupport the introduction of new products into manufacturing, including:\n\nEvaluating manufacturability of design concepts\nProviding cost estimates and ROI for automation opportunities\nDeveloping tooling concepts and production methodologies for automation cells\nParticipating in business reviews and providing technical manufacturing insight\nAssisting with material, tooling, and process selection for Engineering Development Programs\nProvide production troubleshooting support and daily direction to both hourly and salary manufacturing personnel.\nLead process improvement, driving labor hour and cycle reduction initiatives and enhanced productivity.\nLead activities related to factory layout and capacity planning.\nSupport FAA, NADCAP, AS9100, and Customer audit activity\nCollaborate with suppliers to troubleshoot issues related to quality and delivery\nProduction, Facilities, and Manufacturing Planning\n\nSkills:\nCritical Thinking\n\nTroubleshoot engineering issues impacting part quality, cost, or function\nDevelop and monitor engineering metrics related to productivity and part flow\n\nCommunication\n\nApply and maintain operator manufacturing procedures, training manuals, and planning tools\nCollaborate effectively with cross-functional teams\nPrepare engineering documentation in support of manufacturing activities\n\nWhat YOU must bring to Succeed\n\nBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline with a minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing or a related engineering field in the design, construction, and manufacturing of composite structures.\nProficiency in CATIA 3D modeling software\nThis position involves access to export-controlled technology which requires U.S. Person status or government authorization. A ‘U.S. Person,’ as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62, includes U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, individuals lawfully admitted for permanent residence (green card holders), and individuals granted asylum or refugee status in the United States. To be considered for this position, you must either be a U.S. Person or fall within a legally recognized export control exception or authorization.
