Test Lab Engineer

The Role - Amphenol Aerospace Operations is seeking a Test Lab Engineer to work out of its state-of-the-art facility in Sidney, NY.The Test Lab Engineer will plan and perform product engineering assignments related to design, development or evaluation work. Apply sound engineering techniques and practices in performing assigned tasks. Works under minimum supervision, providing technical direction to Lab Technicians. Responsible for a portion of Test Lab equipment. Operates in a team-based work setting.The key responsibilities of the Test Lab Engineer include, but are not limited to:Perform routine and customized mechanical and electrical tests on electrical connector productsReview and provide feedback on work instruction submitted by Engineering/Quality/ProcessDevelop and review test datasheets and sample preparation materials, ensuring alignment with test procedures, reference documents, and industry standardsWrite and enhance new and existing test proceduresWrite and review technical memos and engineering reportsProvide verification testing for ManufacturingAssists with failure analysis of connector assemblies and componentsPerform various qualification projects for Mil/Aero QPL connector productsAssists with qualification testing for products in both Mil/Aero and Commercial/Industrial productsResearch equipment, procedural and software enhancementsLocation - Sidney, NY30 Minute Drive from Binghamton, NY20 Minute Drive from Oneonta, NYSalary - $62,354 - $85,000The Person - The key skills and qualities of an Test Lab Engineer at Amphenol Aerospace Operations:Bachelor’s Degree in a related Engineering discipline plus a minimum of 2 - 4 years of applicable work experience, an equivalent of education and qualifying experience is acceptableRequires a thorough working knowledge of engineering principles as applied to electrical connectorsMust have a good working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft OfficeBasic expertise in programming automatic test equipment is requiredFamiliarity with Military Specifications/Standards and Industry Standard test methods and equipment for connectors requiredKnowledge of AS400 programs for product information and purchasing requisitions preferredMust be capable of independently representing the companyThe position requires movement between test equipment and some minor lifting is requiredOccasional travel (10%)The Company -With manufacturing sites in Sidney, NY, Mesa, AZ, Nogales, MX, and a Design Center in Pasadena, CA, Amphenol Aerospace Operations has been a leader in designing and manufacturing electrical components for the aviation and commercial airplane industry for over 100 years.Focusing on serving the needs of advanced and challenging market segments, we pride ourselves on our consistent ability to innovate and provide the markets with new creative solutions.Working at Amphenol means you are recognized and valued for your contributions because we believe that our human capital is the most valuable asset we have.
