Domestic jobs and manufacturing are fundamental to our full-lifecycle approach to projects, along with a long-term ownership model and a company culture dedicated to our community partners and protecting the natural environment.Job Summary:The Solar Technician is responsible for performing routine preventive maintenance on utility-scale solar PV systems, including inverter stations, combiner boxes, and weather stations, to include diagnosing and troubleshooting system issues using SCADA and on-site testing tools.Responsibilities:Test, maintain, and troubleshoot solar PV electrical and mechanical equipmentEnsure that all tasks are performed safely and in accordance with site operating proceduresComplete Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO), JSAs, Permit to Work, and job-specific documentation to ensure safe maintenance and repair executionConduct inspections and thermal imaging to detect potential electrical and mechanical failuresReplace and repair system components such as fuses, wiring, circuit breakers, and modulesDocument all maintenance and repair activities using CMMS and reporting toolsProactively identify and recommend improvements to job-specific processes and proceduresPerform balance of plant (BOP) and switchyard work as requiredPerform electrical testing as necessary, including insulation and thermal testingUse Microsoft Office and computer software tools in support of communication, documentation, maintenance, and troubleshootingIdentify gaps in safety standards and recognize safety risks in the environmentRespond promptly to emergencies and perform immediate troubleshooting and corrective actionsEnsure compliance with site protocols for access, HSE, security, deliveries, and inspectionsBe available to support operations outside traditional hours, including emergent abnormal conditions and O&M issuesOperate mobile equipment such as mowers, forklifts, tractors, excavators, and motor vehiclesAssist in vegetation management and site upkeep where applicableMaintain accurate inventory of tools, spare parts, and consumablesAll other duties as assignedQualifications:Required:High school diploma or equivalentUnrestricted driver license in good standingMust be skilled in at least one of the following: power plant operations, electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance; substation maintenanceMust be competent in power plant safety protocolsMust be competent in electrical safetyKnowledge of and experience with the use of hand and power toolsAbility and willingness to occasionally travel to and from job sites as assigned, including supporting other sitesRoutine operation of a computer/tablet and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printerFrequent oral and written communicationsFlexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as requiredComplete all required training in a satisfactory manner and timeframeMust be adaptive to new technologies and methodsMust take ownership of responsibilities and look beyond the work task, with regards to discovering new opportunities for corrective workPreferred:Associate degree in engineering or related field from an accredited US school other than correspondence or internetTechnical certification in Electrical Technology, Renewable Energy, or related fieldOSHA 30 certification and NFPA 70E trainingKnowledge of SMA, Sungrow, or similar inverter platformsBasic understanding of vegetation management requirements on solar sites• Physical Work: Perform physical tasks such as lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying items up to 50 lbs.
