Estimator
We are seeking an experienced and engaged individual to join our dynamic team as an Estimator. This position analyzes drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare estimates that include; material cost, tooling requirements, BOM, set-up times, labor costs and outside services. You will also gather information used to complete cost estimates that are turned into sales quotations.
Responsibilities:
Reviews and evaluates requests for Estimates.
Aids in the determination of the correct material, machines, labor, and process requirements
Prepares and submits timely estimates; ensures completion of estimates. Computes cost factors and prepares estimates for management use in planning, manpower availability, materials, equipment utilization, tooling needs and product cost.
Reviews estimates and revisions for completeness and accuracy.
Creates job folders.
Reviews blueprint documents and understands scope of work to bid. Identify processes needed to complete product or projects and determines compatibility to our capabilities.
Executes hand off to engineering / production.
Obtains pricing for materials / hardware / outside processes.
Obtains bids from subcontractors when necessary.
Prepares cost on all jobs.
Works with sales to understand customer requirements for quality / packaging etc. Understands the customer’s requirements, design intent and timelines.
Where predetermined standard(s) are not available, makes an estimate.
Informs immediate supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items or scope of work.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
5 - 8 years of related experience and/or training in metal fabrication.
Associates Degree in industry-related field; such as Mechanical Design, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering.
Ability to read and understand 2D and 3D technical drawings and customer specifications.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Knowledge of finishing processes (paint, heat treating, plating, etc.).
Familiar with shop floor systems and available equipment.
Desire to learn new skills and improve technical knowledge.
Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment to meet team expectations.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentage and to draw and interpret graphs.
Ability deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
To perform the job successfully, an individual should be proficient with SolidWorks and Excel.
