This Estimator is responsible for developing accurate and timely proposals and estimates for both private and public sector works projects ranging from $100K - $10M. You will prepare cost estimates alone and as part of a team for federal/public sector works construction projects. You will be responsible for takeoffs, document control, cost analysis, expanding prospective client list, client relations and sales efforts, and subcontractor/vendor vetting. The Site Concrete Estimator will be expected to develop, maintain, and rely upon existing business relationships to increase bid opportunities in the regional market. You will also use existing pricing models that give us a chance at winning construction contracts with our federal customers.\nThis role is meant to cross over various job functions, such as accounting and field management to introduce new systems which will support the project team during pre-construction and throughout construction. You will work closely with and report to the owner.\nResponsibilities\nGain thorough understanding of the scope of construction projects through the plans and specifications or through concept drawings.\nAnalyze drawings, specifications, existing site conditions, and other documentation to prepare quantity takeoffs of time, materials, equipment, labor needs and schedule. Must solicit input from field operations to include in final project estimate and schedule.\nResponsible for overseeing bid proposals and “take off” quantities to verify accuracy of bid estimates. Site Concrete Estimator must ensure the bid estimates correspond to the most recent drawings, city standards, and specifications provided by client.\nAnalyze alternative solutions, value engineering, and construction methods to increase competitiveness of the bid.\nPresent estimates and participate in bid reviews with clients and senior management to ensure accuracy and completeness.\nSite Concrete Estimator is responsible for generating reports for senior-management and participating in weekly meetings to report on bid proposal and sales pipeline.\nMust have an “ear to the industry” and communicate with subcontractors, suppliers, public and private entities to ensure CPC’s competitive advantage in the marketplace.\nSite Concrete Estimator must be a proven leader and clear communicator to relay bid information to field operations to ensure understanding of job scope, schedule, and critical means and methods of construction.\nDevelop, maintain, and rely upon your established client portfolio to increase bid opportunities in the regional market.\nWork with estimators and owner to lead design-build preconstruction activities to ensure CPC’s high-quality standards are met while always striving to deliver the project ahead of schedule.\nProvide project management support: means and methods, submittals, schedules, and specifications to ensure field team success.\nTake part in contract negotiations and lend support to the owner when evaluating contracts.\nPromote a safe workplace in the office and field, adhering to CPC’s Safety Program and assist in maintaining a stellar safety record.\nEvaluate systems which will help the company operate more efficiently and oversee the installation & implementation of these systems.\nRequirements\n1) Must have at least 7 years’ experience with site concrete, asphalt paving, earthwork, underground utilities, and roadwork.\n2) Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or equivalent related work experience.\n3) Must have at least 7 years’ civil estimating & take-off experience with advanced knowledge of construction means and methods and equipment capabilities.\n4) Fluent with RS Means cost book bidding is a plus.\n5) Must travel to meetings and job walks with prospective clients at various locations across California.\n6) Must be proficient in all MS Products (MS Word, Excel, Power Point), Adobe Acrobat, and Estimating software.\n7) Exhibit detail-oriented focus.\n8) Ability to independently generate estimates and lead a team working on an estimate.\n9) Must be a team player and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.\n10) Must have established client portfolio and existing relationships to expand bidding opportunities in the marketplace.\n11) Must have valid driver’s license, ability to drive, and must pass a background check to access federal installations.\nWork Conditions\nCommand Performance has a fast-paced work environment, and our team thrives on collaboration.
