This position requires strong multitasking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. This is a temporary position and is expected to last approximately 6 to 12 months. While the primary work location is Jessup, MD, the role may require travel to the Sterling, Virginia location at least once per week.\n\nEssential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to:\n\nExecuting various administrative tasks related to supporting standard business operations, including employee engagement activities, maintaining TV monitors and other administrative tasks as required.\nPerform customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.\nResponsible for related onboarding and offboarding process including prepare, compile and complete new hire paperwork in preparation for Orientation; validates I-9 verifications; request ID badge, exit interviews and Termination process.\nUpdates and maintains relevant employee information on company intranet sites (Paychex, UKG and D365).\nAssists in the coordination and implementation of the Employee Engagement, Wellness Program and College career fair.\nHandles employment and wage verifications as well as accurately complete state forms as required.\nAssist TQE with safety protocols.\nAssist the HR Manager, HRBP and HR Generalist with HR projects.\nAssist with recruitment and interview process.\n\nIn addition to the essential functions and duties listed above, all positions are also responsible for:\n\nMeeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.\nAdhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.\n\nThe Company retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position.\n\nPhysical Activities:\n\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, talk, walk, hear, use hands and fingers to handle, open files cabinets, bend or stoop as necessary\n\nRequirements\n\nExperience:\n\n1-2 years’ experience of Human Resources experience\nProficient in MS office (Word, Excel, and Power Point)\n\nEducation:\n\nBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.\n\nSpecialized Knowledge and Skills:\n\nHigh level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.\nAbility to operate most standard office equipment.\nAttention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.\nGood to Excellent spelling, grammar and written communication skills.\nExcellent telephone and oral communications skills.\nAbility to interact with employees at all levels of the organization\n\nOther:\n\nTravel to Sterling, VA at least once a week may be required\n\nHourly pay range for this position is $ 23.00 - $27.00 depending on experience.\n\n#INDMP\n\nThorlabs values its diverse environment and is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
