This role will perform assigned audits, collect and document objective evidence, identify gaps to requirements, and support timely follow-up of corrective actions. The Audit Technician will work closely with the Lead Audit Technician, process owners, and cross-functional teams to help strengthen process discipline and audit readiness across the organization.\n\nThis role is well-suited for a detail-oriented auditing professional with manufacturing or quality systems experience and a practical understanding of IATF-16949. The ideal candidate is organized, objective, and comfortable engaging with teams on the floor and in support functions to assess compliance and process effectiveness.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nAudit Execution\n\nConduct assigned process, product, layered, and system audits in accordance with the internal audit schedule and established audit methods.\n\nReview procedures, work instructions, records, and other relevant documentation before and during audits.\n\nGather and document objective evidence through observation, interviews, and record review.\n\nIdentify and clearly document nonconformities, observations, and opportunities for improvement.\n\nParticipate in opening and closing meetings and communicate findings in a professional and factual manner.\n\nAudit Reporting and Follow-up\n\nPrepare timely, accurate, and complete audit reports using approved templates and systems.\n\nTrack assigned findings and follow-up actions to support timely closure.\n\nVerify implementation of corrective actions as assigned and expedite overdue or ineffective actions.\n\nMaintain organized audit records and support audit metric reporting.\n\nSupport preparation and logistics for external, customer, and certification audits when needed.\n\nQMS and Compliance Support\n\nSupport compliance to Rivian's Quality Manual, internal procedures, and other applicable requirements through routine audit activity.\n\nHelp identify process gaps, trends, and repeat issues that may indicate broader systemic concerns.\n\nProvide practical feedback to process owners and elevate concerns through the Lead Audit Technician or QMS leadership as appropriate.\n\nSupport continuous improvement of audit checklists, templates, and standard work.\n\nQualifications\n\nHigh school diploma or GED required; or equivalent work experience\n\n2+ years of experience in internal auditing, quality, manufacturing, inspection, compliance, or a related operational role.\n\nPrior audit experience required; degree not required.\n\nBasic understanding of IATF-16949, ISO 9001, or comparable quality management system requirements.\n\nAbility to read and interpret procedures, records, forms, and manufacturing or quality documentation.\n\nStrong attention to detail and ability to document findings accurately and objectively.\n\nGood communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across functions.\n\nBasic proficiency with Google Workspace and Jira\n\nPreferred Skills & Experience\n\nExperience in automotive, EV manufacturing, or a regulated manufacturing environment.\n\nInternal auditor training or exposure to formal audit methods.\n\nExperience with corrective action follow-up and verification.\n\nFamiliarity with quality tools such as 5 Why, process flow review, and basic risk-based thinking.\n\nExperience working in production, quality assurance, or manufacturing support environments\n\nPay Disclosure\nThe hourly pay for this role is $26.00 per hour for Illinois based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.
