The Area SHE Manager role is a key role to ensure the Divisional workstreams operate efficiently through the planning and implementation of company SHE programs. This position requires developing knowledge of operational activities and Element Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) programs. The position will focus on the SHE functional activities, reporting directly to the Divisional SHE Business Partner and supporting General Managers and Operational Teams from identified locations and workstream. Ideal location for this role is Oxford, Banbury or surrounding areas.\r\nResponsibilities\r\nAct as an Area SHE Manager to visit and support identified workstreams & locations, including:\r\nCert & Tech (High Wycombe area)\r\nFIRA Stevenage\r\nWednesbury\r\nPromote employee participation in the Element Safety Health and Environmental program(s)\r\nAssist identified General Managers, Operations Managers and Safety Leaders/SHE Champions with SHE related activities\r\nReview and support in the update of Divisional Legal Registers\r\nCoordinate and assist in the development of Safe Systems of Work, including Physical & Chemical Risk Assessments, Standard Operating Procedures, etc.\r\nEstablish and implement Element SHE programs, ensuring regulatory compliance is considered at all times\r\nSupport with basic company program awareness training\r\nCoordinate SHE mandatory inspections and audits across identified locations and divisional areas\r\nReview and monitor worksite controls, including contractor activities\r\nConduct active monitoring of identified site-based work activities to support implementation of SSOW and Element SHE programs within identified division workstreams (in conjunction with other SHE functional resources)\r\nConduct Incident Investigations for identified events which require a greater degree of review and oversight - as identified by the Divisional SHE Business Partner\r\nEnsure corrective management action when required\r\nAnalyse and trend leading and lagging data to improve SHE performance\r\nAssist with new hire orientation and training programs\r\nCommunicate regularly with relevant Operational Safety Leaders and SHE Champions\r\nFormulate and conduct necessary SHE awareness training sessions/demonstrations\r\nSupport workstream SHE committee meetings for identified workstreams & locations\r\nResponsible for the reporting on the performance of the SHE management system, ensuring two-way communication to management, colleagues and any other interested parties\r\nDistribute new and changing safety related information to identified workstreams and locations\r\nCoordinate return to work/modified duty program with the assistance of the Human Resources Department.\r\nSkills / Qualifications\r\nUnderstanding of UK SHE related legislation. Suitable certification to be held for SHE disciplines (NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent as a minimum)\r\nProficiency in standard H&S related risk assessment processes\r\nGood knowledge of PUWER, LOLER and COSHH topics is desirable\r\nKnowledge or experience of small-medium sized projects and/or CDM related facility improvements is desirable\r\nMicrosoft Applications (SharePoint, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)\r\nAvailability, flexibility, and maturity to represent the company when required (i.e., with customers and internally within the company).\r\nAbility to remain calm when faced with mounting pressure related to deadlines and multiple priorities.\r\nWell-developed oral and written communication skills to meet a variety of communication needs.\r\nGood interpersonal skills that foster open upward and downward communication built on mutual respect.\r\nDeveloping Safety, Health Environmental knowledge and experience\r\nExcellent communication (verbal and written) skills\r\nMust be able to problem solve effectively\r\nAble to train and deliver key messages to large groups\r\nProven track record of working in and/or influencing relationships where there is exposure to sensitive issues\r\nAble to balance time commitments\r\nHas developing knowledge in compliance and regulation\r\nProficiency in MS Office.\r\nProficiency in communication, both written and verbal.\r\nAbility to analyze data and provide evidence-based recommendations.\r\nCompany Overview\r\nElement is one of the fastest growing testing, inspection and certification businesses in the world.
