PhlebotomistCollects and processes blood specimens for testing in the laboratory.Reports to: Phlebotomy SupervisorLabels, processes and delivers specimens for testing.Collects ordered specimens from patients using age-appropriate techniques.Maintains scheduled and non-scheduled equipment maintenance and medical supplies.Utilize computer system for data entry and monitoring workflowAccurately registers patients using appropriate method and registration procedures.Performs routine department functions, such as answering the phone in an appropriate and timely manner, taking/delivering messages and transferring calls as needed, faxing and copying.Stocks laboratory suppliesMaintains a clean and organized work environmentMinimum EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent - RequiredGraduate of a Program in Discipline - PreferredFormal Phlebotomy program with a minimum of 40 hours of clinical experience/certification - PreferredRequired SkillsBLS certification from approved American Heart Association training center must be obtained within 90 days of employment.Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
