OverviewOrange County Utilities provides water resources and solid waste recovery services to protect and enrich the lives of citizens and guests of Orange County Florida.Orange County Government is committed to providing equal opportunity in employment and services to all individuals.The Water Reclamation Division is seeking highly qualified individuals to fill the position of Wastewater Operator A (Operations Specialist) in our South and East Water Reclamation Plants.Job DescriptionGeneral FunctionsCoordinates activities performed by the work unit, schedules work activities to maintain facilities in efficient operating conditions, reviews work performed by a variety of trades, responds to emergency situations to correct operating problems in a timely manner. Work requires independent judgment under the general supervision of a Senior Operations Supervisor.Representative Duties / AssignmentsResponsible for wastewater treatment operations and maintaining the facility's permit complianceAssists the Senior Operations Supervisor with staff scheduling, training and capital project construction coordination activitiesAdministers and ensures the timely performance and completion of shift dutiesLeads in the implementation of task efficiencies and facilitates daily operational and maintenance team meetingsEnsures the timely performance of and completion of shift's operational dutiesQA/QC accurate permit-required reports (Monthly Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR), Annual Reuse, Pathogen Monitoring, Surface Water Monitoring, etc.) for review by the Senior Operations Supervisor and Plant ManagerPerforms operational quality control checks, identifies maintenance work order needs and requests in Maximo's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMS) and coordinates the repair and scheduling with the maintenance personnelPlans and schedules operational preventive maintenance work ordersReviews and assists with data entry to ensure the timely and accurate completion of DMRsPerforms other duties as may be assignedMinimum QualificationsGraduation from high school or equivalent and three (3) years of water or wastewater plant experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.Based on area of assignment, may be required to possess and maintain the appropriate certification or license.PreferencesPossess and maintain a FDEP A wastewater licenseDepending on area of assignment, must be able to comply with the requirements of the Utilities' Health and Safety Manual.Must complete the Orange County Leadership Development series within two (2) years of hire or promotionMust demonstrate proficiency in three (3) Plant Specialist skills areasMust complete the Orange County Effective Training and Presentation Skills program or an equivalent trainer's certification program within two (2) years of hire or promotionWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office, Kronos and MaximoBenefits10 paid holidays and 2 floating holidays annually18 days paid time off per yearLongevity bonus based on years of service6 days of paid TERM (sick) time annuallyLow-cost medical, dental, vision, additional life insuranceFree basic life, long term disability, and employee assistance for all family members effective on day oneParticipation in the Florida Retirement SystemEmployee assistance program includes multiple free one-on-one sessions with licensed counselors and online tools for legal advice, financial planning, personal life balance, etc.Free access to Wellworks gyms and Orange County Recreation CentersFree onsite wellness coaching, including dietician and nurseTuition reimbursement programEarn service time to forgive student loansPre-employment RequirementsSelected candidate will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug test, physical examination, and background check.J-18808-Ljbffr
