If accommodation or assistance is needed to complete an application, contact Human Resources at 402-323-3407.Position InformationPosition Title - Adjunct Instructor, Deere Construction & Forestry Equipment Tech - (2025-2026) - PTTDepartment - John DeereLocation - MilfordJob Category - FacultyJob Type - PTPosting Number - 01198Position Summary InformationGeneral Description of Position - Under the direction of the Dean/Associate Dean/Program Chair, the Adjunct Instructor, Deere Construction & Forestry Equipment Tech is responsible for instructing students in various Deere Construction & Forestry Equipment Tech courses (as needed), and updating the program courses in a classroom/lab environment. This position is responsible for the maintenance of the lab equipment, advising students, and working with the program and College committees. Additional duties include program promotion and working with the program's advisory committee. This is a part-time temporary position.Essential Functions - 1. Provide Student Instruction in Courses as Assigned Provide instruction to a diverse student population in the Deere Construction Equipment Technology Program. Determine the appropriate material to be covered in the course(s) assigned to teach (subject to division dean and program chair approval). 2. Develop New Course and Update Existing Courses Develop new courses and update existing courses as required to keep the Deere Construction Equipment Technology Program current with industry standards and processes. New course development includes writing course objectives, develop syllabi, developing handouts and tests and researching textbooks for course use. Also the updating of existing courses to ensure that the course is current with industry standards as required. 3. Maintain and Upgrade Deere Construction Equipment Technology Classroom/ Laboratory Instructional Facilities and Equipment Responsible for maintenance of all instructional facilities and equipment to ensure that it is maintained in a safe and proper working order for student use. 4. Complete and Maintain Program and Student Records Responsible for maintaining permanent student records on courses taught, and following and enforcing college policies regarding attendance policy, grading policy, and student achievement. 5. Assist with the completion of purchase orders when ordering program instructional supplies and equipment.6. Complete production orders on all production projects, and maintaining inventory records of all program equipment for the assigned classroom/laboratory areas. 7.Maintain Technical Competency in Teaching Area Required to maintain technical competency in all areas of teaching responsibilities by attending service training, seminars, professional association meetings, conferences, educational workshops, and self-study. Must maintain certification in all areas as prescribed by Southeast Community College and Deere Construction Equipment Company. 8. Participate in College and Program Activities and Committees Will attend, participate and support all program activities, (i.e., advisory committee meetings, open house, division meetings, graduation, program call night and other duties as assigned) and College activities and committees as requested.9. Will Act as Student Advisor for the Deere Construction Equipment Technology Program Will advise Deere Construction Equipment Technology Program students on academic standing, support and explain College policies and procedures with students, and complete all records, forms, etc., as necessary for proper articulation and program operation.10. Perform Other College and Program Duties as Assigned Perform other College and program related duties as assigned. This will include, but not limited to, substitute teaching as required, assist with budget development, advise division dean and program chair as requested, support and promote the College and the Deere Construction Equipment Technology Program, support student recruitment, assist in the security of all College and program materials and equipment, and assist in supervising student help. 11.Individualized Development Plan (New Instructors) Each new instructor will develop an individualized development plan in cooperation with the Vice President of Instruction. Professional Development Faculty should work with their immediate supervisor to develop an annual plan of professional development and improvement. 12.Promote/Support Diversity Promote and support the College's diversity goals; promote/support Access,EEO, Equity, and Diversity programs.13. Serve as a technical advisor from the Deere Construction Equipment Technology Program for assisting other programs at the College.2. Provide assistance to other College divisions/programs/ departments as requested to ensure College policies and procedures are followed.3. Teach evening or off campus Deere Construction Equipment Technology classes for specific training requests.4. Perform other related duties as assigned.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - 1. Possess current knowledge and work experience in the Deere Construction Equipment field. This will include the following: Deere Fundamentals; -Deere Heating/Air Conditioning; -Deere Electrical/Electronic Systems & Components; -Deere Engines; -Deere Hydraulic/Hydrostatic Systems & Components; Deere Power Train Systems & Components; Deere Diesel & Gasoline Fuel Systems & Components; Deere Backhoes/Landscape Loaders; Deere Excavators; Deere Crawler Dozers/Loaders; Deere Motor Graders; Deere Four Wheel Drive Loaders; Deere Forklifts/Skid Steer Loaders; Deere Scrapers/Articulated Trucks; plus Evaluation Skills/Procedures as related to the student's Cooperative Education work experience.2. Ability and experience in: Diagnosis, Troubleshooting, and Repair of Heating/Air Conditioning Systems & Components; Electrical/Electronic Systems & Components; Engines & Associated Components; Hydraulic/Hydrostatic Systems & Components; Power Train Systems & Components; Diesel & Gasoline Fuel Systems.3. Minimum of two (2) year's current technician work experience in the Deere Construction Equipment field or as a technician in a closely related field/brand. 4. The ability to operate: Diagnostic and Repair equipment used in troubleshooting/repair of Heating/Air Conditioning Systems, Electrical/Electronic Systems, Engine Systems, Hydraulic/Hydrostatic Systems, Power Train Systems, Diesel & Gasoline Fuel Systems.5. Ability to demonstrate all types of processes/procedures required of a Deere Construction Equipment Technology Technician for the courses assigned to teach.6. Ability to demonstrate effective oral and written communication competencies necessary to conduct classroom and laboratory instruction in working with a diverse student population.7. Ability to maintain a classroom/lab environment that is conducive to learning including the ability to maintain proper classroom order.8. Prepare tests and quizzes that are pertinent to the lectures delivered, laboratory experiences provided and present them on a regular basis. Evaluate and return tests, quizzes and other assigned work within a short period of time to keep students informed of their progress.9. Ability to develop lab experiences that as closely as possible simulate real business and industry processes. Be able to evaluate the student's ability to perform the lab assignments as objectively as possible.10. Ability to maintain student interest through the use of various types of teaching media and techniques.11. Ability to organize and present course material in a logical and timely manner using effective communications skills.12. Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with students, College staff, Deere Company and dealership personnel in all types of working relationships.13. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time (one to three hours) when supervising lab work and (one to three hours) during class times.14. Ability to lift from floor to five feet high equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds.15. Possess a working knowledge of the Hazard Communication Standard/ Hazard and Chemical Right-to-Know Laws and Regulations.16. Knowledge and skill in using personal computers working with word processing, spread sheets, parts ordering and pricing, dealer technical assistance, and office mail.17.
