This role will have a strong backend focus, but with the ability to contribute across the stack as needed. You'll work closely with our co-founder, product/design lead, and a tight-knit engineering team to build and maintain our customer-facing products, internal tools, and data platforms.\nWe are seeking someone who can bring strong database expertise to help strengthen the team's backend capabilities as we continue to scale and evolve our product.\nWhat You’ll Do\nDesign, build, and maintain backend services, APIs, and databases that power our product.\nCollaborate with our team to deliver full-stack features end-to-end.\nLead and improve database architecture, performance, and reliability.\nParticipate in DevOps and infrastructure projects, including CI/CD, deployments, and monitoring.\nContribute to architectural decisions as we evolve our stack and scale our systems.\nWork closely with product, design, and leadership to scope and deliver high-impact features.\nQualifications\nRequired\nStrong backend engineering experience with serverless architectures.\nSolid experience with relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, RDS) and data modeling.\nAbility to assess and optimize database performance, scaling, and migrations.\nExperience with AWS (Lambdas, EC2, S3, RDS, etc).\nStrong understanding of backend system design and REST API development.\nFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar).\nComfortable working independently in a fast-paced, remote startup environment.\nPreferred\nFrontend experience with React and Vite.\nBackend experience with Node.js.\nExperience with TypeScript.\nExperience with observability, monitoring, and alerting systems.\nPrevious experience in healthtech, biotech, or handling sensitive health data.\nStartup or small-team experience where you've worn multiple hats.\nHow we work\nRemote-First Company: our working hours follow a 2 hour window from 9 am - 6 pm CST\nDriven by an ambitious mission: we're reinventing how we should think about wellness from the first 1,000 days to the last\nShape what we build, not just how we build it: we prioritize experimentation with taking ownership, and moving fast\nNo hidden agendas: we operate with full transparency because when everyone's working from the same honest picture, you spend less time on politics and more time on impact\nHigh standards, human culture: we hold ourselves to a high bar and do it alongside a team who can laugh at themselves and make the hard days genuinely enjoyable\nOur Values\nLearn fast, be better\nWhat that looks like: You deliver your output when it creates value, not when it’s perfect.
