Description: The position involves providing respiratory therapy to adults primarily, with pediatric and neonate care as needed. The therapist will cover all inpatient areas, including the emergency department. Responsibilities include performing breathing treatments, managing ventilators, drawing and running ABGs, and conducting EKGs. Core therapists may also place arterial lines. There may be multiple ventilators to manage in the intensive care unit. The ability to assist in intubation is required, but independent intubation is not necessary. A lead therapist or supervisor will be available for questions at all times. Schedules are made for four-week periods, requiring weekend work every other week. If scheduled to work on holidays, the therapist will need to fulfill their shift. Within-facility floating may occur, but critical care transport outside the facility is not required. Appearance must be professional, with no long nails. Beards must be clean-shaven for compliance with professional standards. The facility employs an open ICU model with various physician specialists available. Skill assessment will be conducted upon arrival to ensure appropriate assignments.
