You will be leading a class of students through the school year, assessing their current academic level, and designing instruction to meet students' collective and individual needs. The ideal candidate will also be familiar with Early Head Start and Head Start program expectations.You are passionate about learning and helping students reach their potential. With strong creative and problem-solving skills, you love connecting with individual students and creating an engaging classroom environment.ResponsibilitiesPlan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons for childrenIncorporate Head Start‐aligned practices, including individualized learningMaintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environmentObserve, assess, and document children's developmental progressBuild strong relationships with families and communicate regularlyFollow DCFS licensing standards and center policiesCollaborate with staff and participate in professional developmentSupport social‐emotional learning through positive guidanceAssess student's skills and performance to ensure they are meeting developmental milestonesQualificationsMust meet Illinois DCFS Teacher QualificationsAssociate or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (or related field with ECE coursework)OR CDA with relevant experienceFamiliarity with Early Head Start and/or Head Start programs1–2 years of experience in a licensed early childhood settingCPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)Strong communication and classroom management skillsStrong understanding of child development principles and best practices in education and classroom managementExcellent verbal and written communication skillsKnowledge of classroom health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and ability to closely adhere to the guidelinesProblem-solving and mediation skillsPreferredExperience in a preschool or Head Start classroomExperience in a childcare environmentKnowledge of Creative Curriculum or Teaching Strategies
