Director of EPC: Renewable Fuels and Process

Location: Little Rock, AR or Springdale, AR Reports To: CEO and COO Division: Renewable Fuels & Process Industries Employment Type: Full-Time, Senior Leadership POSITION SUMMARY Buffalo Builders is launching a dedicated Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (“EPC”) division focused on delivering a multi-year pipeline of modular renewable fuels facilities across multiple regions. These facilities include renewable natural gas, hydrogen, methanol, and other advanced process-industry plants. The Director of EPC – Renewable Fuels & Process Industries will serve as the senior leader responsible for the full lifecycle of these projects, from early engineering coordination through preconstruction, procurement, construction, commissioning, and long-term scaling. This individual will build and lead a multidisciplinary team capable of executing multiple $100M–$150M industrial process plants per year. This role is ideal for a seasoned EPC professional with deep mechanical or chemical process experience who wants to build a new, high-impact division from the ground up. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Program Leadership Establish, structure, and lead Buffalo’s new EPC program for renewable fuels and advanced process plants. Lead planning and execution for multiple major capital projects, scaling from one facility in Year 1 to three or more annually in subsequent years. Serve as the primary technical and execution liaison between engineering partners, fabricators, internal design teams, and field leadership. Drive alignment across design, construction, safety, and commissioning teams. 2. Engineering & Technical Coordination Review and interpret P&IDs, PFDs, heat and mass balances, and equipment specifications. Provide constructability input into early engineering and design decisions. Support development of modular plant designs and replicable work packages. Coordinate with third-party engineering firms and process licensors. 3. Preconstruction Management Lead scoping, work breakdown structure development, and execution planning. Oversee estimating templates and ensure consistency across sequential projects. Identify long-lead equipment and drive early procurement strategy. Support contract strategy and subcontractor selection. 4. Construction Execution Maintain accountability for on-time, on-budget delivery of all projects in the program portfolio. Direct project managers, superintendents, and field teams across mechanical, electrical, civil, and I&C disciplines. Oversee project controls, scheduling, cost reporting, and change management. Drive safety, quality, and environmental compliance across all sites. Manage mechanical system installations, piping, equipment setting, instrumentation, and integration of modular components. 5. Team Building & Leadership Recruit and develop a high-performing team of PMs, superintendents, engineers, project controls personnel, and commissioning specialists. Build a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and repeatable execution. Mentor junior team members and cultivate future leaders. 6. Financial Performance Own budgets, forecasts, earned value reporting, and cost-to-complete analyses. Protect OH&P and margin targets across all projects. Identify, quantify, and mitigate project risk. Collaborate with executive leadership on project financing considerations and program planning. 7. Systems, Standards & Repeatability Develop standardized EPC procedures, QA/QC plans, commissioning protocols, and documentation systems for modular process facilities. Establish templates for estimating, scheduling, reporting, and operational readiness. Lead continuous improvement across projects and incorporate lessons learned into future plant designs. QUALIFICATIONS Required Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering. 10–20 years of EPC experience in process or industrial facilities, including petrochemical, refining, gasification, power, or advanced manufacturing. Demonstrated success leading complex capital projects in the $50M–$300M range. Strong technical background in mechanical systems, piping, rotating equipment, and control systems. Proven ability to coordinate engineering and field construction teams. Leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders. Preferred Experience delivering modular or highly repeatable process-industry facilities. Strong background with project controls (schedule, cost, forecasting). Familiarity with commissioning processes for mechanical and chemical systems. Exposure to renewable fuels, hydrogen, RNG, or advanced energy technologies.
