Closing Date Position closes at 5:00 pm Mountain Standard Time on 4/23/2026.Position SummaryDevelops and administers procedures for determining the affiliation of Native American Remains, funerary objects, sacred objects of cultural patrimony, as well as the protection of archaeological and sacred sites.Due to cultural significance, a male is needed to fill this position. This position is a grade N12; pay is $27.56/hour.Education And ExperienceMust have High School Diploma or equivalent.Must have familiarity with Southern Ute Language, History, cultural events and activities, and traditions.General knowledge of the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA).Must have current knowledge and skill using computers and word processing software including scanners.Must have a valid Driver’s License for state of residency and be insurable under the Tribal vehicle insurance policy.Must pass a thorough background check including Criminal History, fingerprint check, and pre-employment drug test.Preferred QualificationsBA/MA in History, Culture, Native American Studies, Southwest Studies, Anthropology, or other closely related field.Experience in collecting historical information from community members, elected and appointed officials, and organizational staff.Experience reading and interpreting legal documents and forms, government rules and regulations, policy and procedure manuals.Active participation in Southern Ute cultural eventsThe ability to read, speak, and write in the Ute language.Positive experience interacting with all age groups including Tribal EldersExperience in teaching/ training, community outreach, public presentations, and event promotionAdvanced proficiency in computer programs such as Word and Excel; internet searching; website editing; presentation software such as PowerPoint and Publisher; equally comfortable in the Window or Apple environments; proficiency in scanning documents and using electronic storage and filing systemsCompanySouthern Ute Indian Tribe Job Location Ignacio, COHow To ApplyPlease apply online at:https://careers.southernute.com/pfund Hiring Preference TERO Preference.
