Job Description UDR is seeking qualified candidates for a Mechanical Engineer opportunity to support an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) project.Work Locations: Greenville, SC and Houston, TXMechanical EngineerResponsibilities:The purpose of this position is to provide essential technical knowledge and perform engineering work as described below. This position serves as a staff engineer performing engineering assignment of intermediate complexity.Under direct supervision of the Discipline Lead Engineer or Area Lead Engineer, analyze and make independent recommendations regarding technical solutions to problems of intermediate complexity in accordance with project requirementsDevelop and review specifications and design criteriaPerform and check engineering analyses and calculations; specify materials, equipment and systems; and solve technical problems of intermediate complexityCoordinate technical issues with other disciplines, project management, vendors and clientsExecute work in compliance with Project Quality Plan and proceduresExecute work in accordance with the approved project scope, cost and schedule baselinesEstablish, control and report on material key quantities; provide analysis and forecastsProvide technical support to activities associated with equipment and material procurement and subcontracting including scopes of work, technical bid evaluations and review of vendor submittalsProvide technical support to activities associated with construction administration including response to construction requests-for-information and field changesOther duties as assignedBasic Job Requirements U.S. Citizenship requiredBachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and minimum five (5) years of work- related experienceWorking knowledge of applicable federal (including Department of Energy orders), state, and local codes and standardsAbility to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to project management, coworkers, clients, vendors, and subcontractorsJob related technical knowledge necessary to complete the jobIntermediate knowledge of discipline codes and standardsAbility to perform work in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal codes, statutes and guidelinesAbility to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective mannerIntermediate computer and software skills to include proficiency in the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programsExperience providing engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services on commercial or industrial projectsProficiency executing EPC projects utilizing engineering analysis, 3D modeling and 2D computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) automation tools in a multi-discipline environmentDiscipline Specific Job Requirements Ability to prepare and review calculations and specifications for equipment in support of Piping & Instrumentation Diagram ( P&ID) developmentDemonstrated design experience in areas such as mechanical systems and equipment design and specificationDemonstrated proficiency with 2D CADD applications such as Bentley MicroStation and Autodesk AutoCADEstablish equipment requirements and prepare equipment data sheets for mechanical equipment including unfired and fired heat transfer equipment, packaged equipment, pressure vessels, pumps and compressors, or packaged equipmentEvaluate dimensions, equipment connections, and equipment performance including pressure profiles, heat transfer rates, and off-design casesProvide equipment sizing and application support to project development or processParticipate in material selection for equipmentDevelop and revise equipment lists, narrative specifications, equipment standards, equipment general arrangement and outline drawingsParticipate in supplier/contractor bid clarification, negotiation, and/or award meetingsRepresent Mechanical in model reviews and closely monitor 3D equipment modeling activitiesProvide consultation during fabrication and witness testing of equipmentProvide consultation and/or on-site assistance for the installation, commissioning, and/or startup of equipmentPreferred Qualifications Professional Engineer licenseExperience with design of systems, structures and components for nuclear facilities under the requirements of ASME NQA-1Practical field experienceEPC project experience for the following industries:U.S Department of Energy or other U.S. Federal Government AgencyNuclear facilities under a nuclear quality assurance programManufacturing, pharmaceutical or biotechnologyIntermediate knowledge of:Equipment specification developmentInstrumentation and controls (I&C) requirements for packaged equipmentDesign of mechanical equipment through all stages of a project from conceptual phase to design development, construction, and commissioningMechanical equipment in one or more of the following specialties: rotating equipment, pressure vessels, unfired and fired heat transfer equipment, packaged equipment, or metallurgy and weldingUDR Consulting, INC is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned, Woman-Owned, Minority-Owned, Small Disadvantaged Business.
