Spruce Mountain School District - RSU #73Jay, Livermore & Livermore FallsSpecial Education Teachers1 Functional Life Skills - SM High School1 Functional Life Skills - SM Middle School DescriptionRSU 73 is looking for two caring, compassionate, and patient special education teachers to work with students in grades 6-8 and 9-12 who require specially designed instruction for academic and functional skills.A Successful Candidate Will Be Able ToDevelop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), to align with a student’s academic, functional and social-emotional needs as well as the ability to coordinate the delivery of special education services in each student’s IEP, complete special education paperwork and adhere to timelines. Evaluate and determine your students’ learning capacity and adapt lesson plans accordingly Effectively communicate with parents, counselors and other teachers to discuss the students’ progress and continued needsHold a capacity to provide proactive behavior interventions for students with significant emotional / behavior, academic and social concernsProvide research based specialized instruction to address the instructional, functional, and developmental goals and objectives contained within each student’s IEP. Employ various teaching techniques, methods and principles of learning to enable students to meet their IEP goals. Provide consultation to classroom teachers regarding classroom adaptations, instructional modifications, adaptive equipment, behavior modification plans and other similar instructional interventions to meet the needs of students with disabilitiesQualificationsMaine Department of Education Certification (282 Endorsement)Maine State Law requires all school employees to be fingerprinted and pass a Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) for a Department of Education Experience working with students with challenging emotional / behavioral needs and at risk students with academic, social and behavioral concerns preferred.
