Chief Financial Officer

OverviewCity of Bristol, VA seeks a Chief Financial Officer to support the daily operation of local City government. The CFO oversees financial transactions, directs the accounting staff (Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounting, Purchasing), and is responsible for internal controls and audit compliance. The CFO serves as Budget Director and handles strategic financial planning, financial accounting and reporting, and debt issuance and management. This position reports to the City Manager.ResponsibilitiesOversee the City's financial transactions and accounting functions.Direct supervision of accounting staff (Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounting, Purchasing).Maintain internal controls and ensure audit compliance.Act as Budget Director for the City.Lead strategic financial planning, financial accounting and reporting, and debt issuance and management.QualificationsBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with emphasis in business, accounting, finance, or related field required.Licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO) designation preferred.Governmental accounting experience preferred.Strong leadership skills with supervisory experience; ability to use technology to enhance financial performance; ability to communicate concisely and accurately with elected officials, appointed officials, and staff.EOEJ-18808-Ljbffr
