The selected student will work with professional software engineering staff for required on-the-job training and mentoring.\n\nKey duties will include:\n\nInterfaces with program team members, technical writers, and engineering technicians as required\nWrites clean, consistent, well-documented code\nImplements, tests, and maintains code for internal customers\nEnsures that code meets end user requirements\nCollaborates with other developers to ensure that new development projects integrate with existing applications and systems\nProvides operational support for existing systems\n\nApplicants should demonstrate some proficiency and desire to improve the following skills:\nKnowledge of common programming languages\nKnowledge of Jira and Jira Service Management\nKnowledge of relational databases, SQL, data modeling, and database design\nTechnical skills in programming, designing, systems development, and testing\nIntroductory level knowledge of common software development processes (version control, peer reviews, documentation standards)\nExcellent interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills\nAbility to establish and maintain effective team relationships\n\nRequired Qualifications\nMust be a Utah State University student majoring in computer science, management information systems, or a related field\nMust have at least one (1) year of school remaining\nMust be able to work 15-20 hours per week during semesters and up to 40 hours per week during summer\nMust be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., or other U.S. person\nAbility to work independently with mentoring and as part of a collaborative team\nMust be reliable and responsible and have a strong work ethic\n\n Student Scholar Program: SDL provides unique opportunities for student employees to develop real-world experience and knowledge beyond the classroom through our Student Scholar Program. This program offers monthly technical workshops, outreach activities, and academic stipends to eligible student employees.
