This role ensures compliance with applicable fire codes, industry standards, and client requirements while supporting safe and reliable facility operations. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, contractors, and regulatory agencies to develop effective fire protection solutions and drive continuous improvements in fire and life safety performance.\nThis position is contingent upon award of the contract.\nRoles and Responsibilities Design and develop fire alarm, fire suppression, detection, and life safety systems in accordance with applicable codes and standards.\nPrepare engineering calculations, technical specifications, drawings, and system layouts for new and existing facilities.\nReview construction documents and ensure fire protection designs comply with NFPA, IBC, IFC, local codes, and client requirements.\nConduct fire risk assessments, hazard analyses, and system evaluations to identify and mitigate potential risks.\nSupport commissioning, testing, inspection, and acceptance of fire protection systems.\nInvestigate fire system failures, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.\nCoordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) throughout project execution.\nProvide technical guidance and support for maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrades of fire protection systems.\nMaintain project documentation, engineering reports, and compliance records.\nStay current on evolving fire protection technologies, regulations, and industry best practices.\nBasic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.\nMinimum of 3 years of experience designing, maintaining, or managing fire protection and life safety systems.\nWorking knowledge of NFPA codes and standards, including NFPA 13, NFPA 20, NFPA 25, NFPA 72, and NFPA 101.\nExperience with fire alarm, sprinkler, suppression, and detection system design and operation.\nProficiency with engineering design software and AutoCAD/Revit or similar tools.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and project coordination skills.\nPreferred Qualifications Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure.\nNICET certification in Fire Protection Engineering Technology or related discipline.\nExperience in industrial, manufacturing, energy, data center, healthcare, or mission-critical environments.\nFamiliarity with performance-based fire protection design and fire modeling software.\nExperience managing multiple projects and working directly with regulatory agencies and AHJs.\nKBR offers a selection of competitive lifestyle benefits which could include 401K plan with company match, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, AD&D, flexible spending account, disability, paid time off, or flexible work schedule.
