We’re proud to be experts in what we do and are looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join our brilliant team.\n\nThe Role\nThe constant requirement for new, better, and more complex products means that the company requires an additional BIOS Engineer. The Software Engineering team is responsible for breathing life into our computer products by creating and maintaining the BIOS, and Board Support Packages (as well as additional software) required for their operation.\n\nWhat will I be delivering?\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nDesign, develop and maintain the UEFI BIOS and other bootloader software. Including integration of board-level hardware: PCIe, USB, Ethernet, I2C, GPIO, UART, and other common embedded interfaces.\nYou will be involved in end to end development as part of a small team.\nWork with our hardware designers:\nDuring the design phase to specify the product\nDuring board bring up to get the prototype hardware working\nDuring the design proving phase to validate the product\nWork closely with the realisation team in defining test software plans.\nWork on challenging customer issues that get escalated to engineering team.\nWorking with the hardware design authorities and software architect to support product specification.\nParticipate in security feature implementation.\nThe hardware and software platforms vary, but most of the devices used are complex and a good appreciation of the hardware is a pre-requisite for this role.\n\nWhat do I need to bring with me?\nDemonstrated knowledge and experience\n\nSubstantial experience developing UEFI BIOS, or related bootloader firmware based on EDK2, Slimboot or Intel FSP.\nProficient in Embedded C programming for x86, PowerPC, or high-performance ARM processors.\nPractical experience programming a variety of hardware devices at the register level.\nExcellent problem-solving and debugging skills.\nFamiliarity with schematics and datasheets to support hardware bring-up and debugging.\nAbility to apply a systematic approach to software debugging, ensuring thorough and efficient resolution of issues.\nAbility to communicate in English and to work in an interdisciplinary engineering and project team.\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary engineering team.\n\nWhat sort of people are we looking for?\n\nYou have fearless curiosity, embracing change as the catalyst for progress and performance.\nYou’re committed to the customer and delivering great service.\nYou are agile in the way that you work and are able to work at pace.
