Preventative Maintenance Mechanic
Job SummaryThe Preventative Maintenance Technician – is responsible for performing routine lubrication, fluid services, inspections, and basic preventative maintenance on heavy equipment and fleet vehicles. This role plays a critical part in extending equipment life, minimizing downtime, and supporting safe and efficient operations.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform scheduled lubrication services on heavy equipment, including construction, earthmoving, and support equipmentChange engine oil, hydraulic fluids, transmission fluids, and filters according to manufacturer specificationsInspect equipment for leaks, wear, damage, or potential mechanical issues and report findings to maintenance leadershipGrease fittings, joints, and moving parts to ensure proper operationCheck and top off fluids such as coolant, fuel, DEF, and lubricantsConduct basic preventative maintenance inspections and complete service checklistsMaintain accurate maintenance and service records in maintenance logsClean work areas, tools, and equipment to maintain a safe and organized shopFollow all safety policies, procedures, and lock-out/tag-out requirementsAssist mechanics with minor repairs and shop duties as neededOperate service trucks and equipment safely on job sites and in shop environmentsWork EnvironmentShop and field-based positionExposure to grease, oils, noise, and heavy machineryMay require overtime, weekends, or on-call support as neededQualifications & RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED requiredPrevious experience as a lube technician, equipment service technician, or similar role preferredKnowledge of lubrication systems, fluids, and filters for heavy equipmentBasic mechanical aptitude and ability to identify potential maintenance issuesAbility to read and follow maintenance schedules and manufacturer guidelinesValid driver’s license; CDL a plus Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditionsPhysical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform manual laborSkills & CompetenciesStrong attention to detailTime management and organizational skillsSafety-focused mindsetAbility to work independently and as part of a teamClear communication and documentation skills
