We are developing a custom manufacturing automation database to handle our entire workflow—from initial quotes through routing, pricing, time tracking (via DMC), and final delivery. We develop internally using Cursor Pro and Claude. We have already successfully built out much of the deterministic geometry work, including custom Python pipelines for geometry clean-up, prepping for machining, and generating CNC code. The Problem As we try to expand the application from isolated geometry scripts into a full, interconnected relational database and UI, we are experiencing \"AI drift.\" The models are losing context and generating conflicting architecture as the codebase grows. The Role We are not looking for a developer to write every line of code for the entire application. We are looking for an AI-native Software Architect to build the foundation. Your goal is to design a scalable, modular framework and a rock-solid database schema, getting the project on the right trajectory so I can successfully resume self-development using Cursor.Key ResponsibilitiesDatabase Architecture: Design a robust, scalable relational schema capable of handling quotes, routing, pricing logic, time tracking, and delivery schedules.Framework Setup: Build the backend foundation (preferably a stack that plays nicely with our existing Python geometry scripts) and establish a clear, modular file structure.Integration: Seamlessly integrate our existing Python CAD/NC program generation scripts into the new framework.AI Guardrails: Author highly detailed .cursorrules and system documentation to provide strict context, naming conventions, and architectural boundaries for Claude, preventing future AI drift.RequirementsExpert-level fluency in developing with Cursor IDE and Claude AI models.Strong background in database architecture and backend development.Proven ability to build modular, heavily commented architectures designed specifically for AI-assisted development.Bonus: Previous experience with manufacturing ERPs, quoting systems, or CNC/CAD integrations.DeliverablesA functional, scalable backend framework and database schema.Integration of our existing deterministic geometry modules.Comprehensive .cursorrules and project documentation to enable smooth handoff for internal AI-assisted development. To Apply Please include examples of complex systems you have architected, specifically highlighting how you structure projects to optimize for AI-assisted coding and mitigate context loss or drift.","company":"Texas Edm","rawCompany":"texas edm","city":"Houston","state":"TX","isRemote":false,"isActive":false,"createdAt":"2026-08-19T12:53:24.424Z","occupations":[{"code":"15-1252.00","title":"Software Developers","slug":"software-developers"},{"code":"15-1243.00","title":"Database Architects","slug":"database-architects"},{"code":"15-1243.01","title":"Data Warehousing Specialists","slug":"data-warehousing-specialists"}],"industries":[{"code":"541511","title":"Custom Computer Programming Services","slug":"custom-computer-programming-services"},{"code":"541512","title":"Computer Systems Design Services","slug":"computer-systems-design-services"},{"code":"513210","title":"Software Publishers","slug":"software-publishers"}],"jobPosting":{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"JobPosting","title":"Software Architect & Cursor/Claude Developer: Manufacturing Database Framework","description":"Project Type: Contract / Project-Based (with potential for future consultation) Experience Level: Intermediate to ExpertAbout the Project We are a small precision metal parts job shop specializing in CNC milling and wire EDM.
