At Progress Rail, the team is not just building the future of rail-they are making history every day.**Education / Training:**-GED, or High School-BS Degree in Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety or related field**Job Title:**EHS and Facility Maintenance Coordinator**City:**Marshalltown**Key Job Elements:**-Inspects/evaluates environment, equipment and processes to ensure compliance with federal/state/local safety/environment regulations;-Conducts New Hire Orientation; delivers safety and health training programs and maintains and distributes PPE to employees when applicable; engages employees to make sure they are working safely;-Stops/corrects any unsafe behavior or conditions found;-Enters data into Safety systems; conducts audits to identify unsafe conditions, non-compliance and hazardous conditions; tracks, logs and follows up on safety observations;-Conducts incident accident reporting and investigations and/or assists with the development of root cause corrections in those facilities with an EHS Manager;-Completes reports for submission to EPA, OSHA or other regulatory agencies as required;-Performs monitoring and testing for permit requirements;-Assists in the sampling of different media, collecting water level data, storm water sampling during precipitation events; collects, labels, packages and ships samples to off-site lab;-Handles facility alarm and sprinkler systems and other emergency response systems as applicable;- Assists with preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements for assigned programs;- Administers first aid for minor injuries as needed and refers more serious injuries for medical care and informs company of any injuries that occur at the facility;-Collaborates with Facility Management as needed and completes other job-related duties as assigned by EHS Manager, Plant Manager, HR Manager and Regional EHS Manager, as applicable;-Ensures all maintenance operations are done within company policies and in accordance with OSHA guidelines;-Ensures facility satisfies all industry regulations;-Seeks out and identifies new methods, tools, and assets for improving productivity and cutting costs;-Keeps track of ongoing facility work, troubleshoots issues, and keeps teams informed;-Maintains knowledge of changing technologies and resources;-Prepares and executes capital projects as necessary, including facility utility modifications (domestic water, fire water protection pump system), sewers (sanitary, storm, industrial waste), electrical power feed, etc. ;-Provides upkeep and continuous improvement for the facility;-Manages all facility maintenance, including reactive repairs, employee safety requests, and preventative maintenance per schedule;-Provides oversight of contracted support services: housekeeping, grounds and landscaping;-Snow removal, elevator support, vehicle maintenance, etc.;-Performs additional job-related duties as assigned.**Qualifications and Experience:**-Overseeing repairs, managing budgets, inventory control, and scheduling day-to-day activities-Organizational/people skills; understanding of scheduling and manpower planning;-Negotiation/analytical skills; ability to see the big picture;-Computer skills, including proficiency with Excel and other MS Office tools.-Demonstrate ability to communicate verbally or as written-Demonstrate ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to customers and employees of the organization.-Solid understanding of environmental practices and Federal/State safety rules and regulations and regulatory requirements;-First Aid/CPR/AED Certification;-Valid driver's license;-Demonstrated ability to work effectively at all levels, including company management, staff, contractors, vendors, and site personnel;-Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with a wide variety of audiences;-Experience with Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);-Ability to adapt to frequent changes in workload and priority as circumstances dictate;-Must be able to meet requirements of pre-employment, post-offer drug test and fitness for duty medical review and exam;-Must be able to pass a background check which reviews any and all felonies and misdemeanors in the past 7 years;-Offering starting yearly salary of $60,000 depending on experience and qualifications-5+ years' experience preferred.Essential and Physical Activities Functions- Strength - Position typically involves work in a standard office environment. Occasional standing andwalking. Heavy lifting is rare, but may be required;- Motion - Position regularly requires standard repetitive motions and hand/eye coordination associatedwith office communications. May require bending, lifting, standing, walking, etc. in cases where Safetyinvestigations require them;- Vision/Hearing Requirements - Constant verbal communications, including both talking and hearing;- Work Environment - Position is Safety Sensitive and will require the use of Personal ProtectiveEquipment. Position may involve work in a non-temperature controlled facility. Position will require visitsto industrial environment, including potential for noise (85+ decibels), cold/heat (0-100 degrees F),exposure to hazardous materials, heavy equipment, high levels of dust, and other hazardous workingconditions. May be required to remain for long periods of time in hazardous work environments toinvestigate and mitigate accidents/incidents;- Emotional Demands - Requires significant interpersonal skills while bearing a high standard forcompliance.
