EDI Analyst
Job Summary: We are seeking an EDI Analyst to own the day-to-day operations of our electronic data interchange environment. This role covers the full spectrum of EDI responsibility -- from managing trading partner relationships and monitoring transaction processing, to administering system configurations, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and keeping our EDI documentation and processes current and accurate. The right candidate brings solid hands-on EDI experience across both the operational and administrative sides of the function and is comfortable working independently in a fast-moving environment. You will work closely with the EDI Developer, the Manager of ERP Development, and external trading partners to keep data flowing reliably between our systems and theirs. This is not a purely technical role -- you need to be as comfortable on a call with a trading partner's EDI team as you are working through a transmission error in the system. This role reports directly to the Manager, ERP Development. Essential Duties/Accountabilities: • Monitor and manage daily EDI transaction processing, including inbound and outbound documents, ensuring timely and accurate data exchange with all active trading partners. • Serve as the primary point of contact for trading partner EDI relationships -- managing onboarding of new partners, maintaining existing relationships, and handling partner-facing communication when issues arise. • Troubleshoot EDI transmission errors and connectivity issues, working with trading partners and the EDI Developer to diagnose and resolve problems with minimal disruption to business operations. • Administer EDI system configurations, communication protocol settings, and translation software -- maintaining a reliable and secure data exchange environment. • Assist with EDI document mapping according to trading partner specifications and business requirements, coordinating with the EDI Developer on technical mapping work as needed. • Test EDI transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with partner requirements before go-live and following any changes to existing configurations. • Maintain EDI documentation including trading partner profiles, mapping specifications, communication protocol configurations, and process procedures -- keeping records current and accessible. • Generate and distribute EDI operational reports to internal stakeholders and management on a regular basis. • Collaborate with IT, customer service, operations, and the ERP development team to resolve data discrepancies and support cross-functional EDI initiatives. • Participate in trading partner certification processes and manage ongoing compliance with X12, EDIFACT, and partner-specific requirements. • Support the implementation of new EDI standards, protocols, and trading partner connections as the business grows. • Provide guidance and support to internal users on EDI processes, procedures, and best practices. Education and Experience: • Associate's degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related field -- or equivalent professional experience. • 3+ years of hands-on EDI experience covering both operational coordination and system administration responsibilities. Candidates with experience limited to one side of that will not be considered -- this role needs to cover both. • Working knowledge of EDI standards including X12 and EDIFACT, and familiarity with common transaction sets (850, 855, 856, 810, 997, and similar). • Experience managing trading partner relationships including onboarding, certification, and ongoing communication. • Familiarity with EDI translation software and communication protocols (AS2, FTP/SFTP, VAN). • Experience working alongside or within an IBM i (AS/400) ERP environment is a plus. • Experience with Mincron ERP or warehouse, distribution, or manufacturing ERP environments is a plus. • Familiarity with EDI monitoring and reporting tools is a plus. Required Skills and Abilities • Strong working knowledge of EDI standards, transaction sets, and communication protocols -- you need to be able to work through a transmission issue or a mapping question without significant hand-holding. • Solid administrative capability -- comfort configuring and maintaining EDI systems, managing communication protocol settings, and keeping the technical environment stable and documented. • Excellent attention to detail and organizational discipline. EDI operations depend on precision and consistency, and this role is responsible for maintaining both. • Clear and professional communication skills -- equally comfortable working through a technical issue with a trading partner's EDI team and explaining an EDI problem to a non-technical operations manager. • Ability to manage multiple trading partner relationships and operational priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. • Proactive problem-solving mindset -- identifying potential issues before they impact business operations rather than waiting for something to break. • Ability to work independently and take ownership of the EDI operational environment with minimal supervision. • Collaboration skills to work effectively with the EDI Developer, the ERP development team, and internal business stakeholders. • Comfort working within a structured change management and documentation environment.
