This individual will have expertise in implementing message-driven systems using Python and messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, or ActiveMQ, ensuring reliable and efficient communication between distributed services. The ideal candidate will also have expertise in asynchronous messaging patterns, and integration frameworks to support scalable and robust enterprise applications. The successful candidate will also be responsible for collaborating with team members in an agile team to resolve technical issues within the RMLS system, as well as document and test solutions. May need to support software installation.\nThe candidate should be able to identify and solve problems quickly and efficiently. They should be able to think outside the box and come up with creative solutions to challenges.\nESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:\nDevelop, test, and deploy Python applications with a focus on messaging and event-driven architecture.\nDesign and implement messaging workflows using brokers like RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka, ActiveMQ, or similar technologies.\nIntegrate messaging solutions with existing systems and services.\nOptimize message throughput and latency to meet performance requirements.\nTroubleshoot and resolve issues related to messaging systems and Python applications.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams including backend developers, and QA.\nWrite clear documentation for system design, code, and messaging workflows.\nStay updated with emerging technologies and best practices in Python development and messaging brokers.\nWork within an agile team to support software development and test under agile methodology.\nProvide support for the deployment of the applications.\nAttend and may lead meetings, design reviews, working groups and briefings.\nReport issues and problems and recommend solutions.\nPerform other related duties in line with task assignments.\nProvide field support.\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:\nRequired:\nProficient in Python programming and development frameworks.\nHands-on experience with one or more messaging brokers (RabbitMQ, Kafka, ActiveMQ, etc.).\nSolid understanding of message queuing, pub/sub models, and event-driven architecture.\nExperience with REST APIs, microservices, and asynchronous programming.\nFamiliarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.\nStrong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.\nExcellent communication skills.\nMust be able to work in a large group environment.\nProblem solving skills.\nStrong interpersonal/team working skills.\nInitiative\nAttention to detail.\nPreferred:\nGood understanding of databases (SQL and NoSQL).\nExperience with other programming languages such as Java or Go.\nKnowledge of monitoring and logging tools related to messaging systems.\nFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines and Agile development methodologies.\nEDUCATION/YEARS of EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:\nBachelor of Science in Computer Science or Math, or a Bachelor’s degree in another technical field with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and twenty (20) years of related work experience in a computer science or math field\nOR\nMaster’s Degree in any field of study with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours of either undergrad or grad study in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and sixteen (16) years related work experience in a computer science or math field\nSECURITY REQUIREMENTS:\nUS Citizenship or documented proof of eligibility to work in the US\nApplicants selected will be subject to a government investigation\nHas been living in the US for at least the past 3 years\nWORK ENVIRONMENT and PHYSICAL DEMANDS:\nLocated at the FAA William J.
