The ESS Field Engineer must be able to read system requirements and produce system diagrams, bills of materials, and other engineering and installation support materials. The ESS Field Engineer should be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures regarding ESS design and deployment on Government installations.\n\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\n\nSupport ESS Field Engineers in developing equipment lists, test plans and procedures, assembly procedures, and installation instructions for electronic security systems\n\nDemonstrated, hands on experience with electronic security systems, to include video management systems, intrusion detection sensors, access control systems, PC based\n\nsecurity software and applications, communications equipment, and day/night/thermal imaging cameras\n\nProficiency in reading and understanding blueprints, diagrams schematics, user's manuals & troubleshooting guides is a must\n\nExperience in installing and/or configuring networking equipment, fiber optics, hardwired interfaces, low voltage power distribution and power sources, cable pulling, conduit bend/install, computer-based systems and software - troubleshooting experience is preferred\n\nAssume primary responsibility for PITCO (Pre-Installation Test and CheckOut) to be conducted in the Sterling VA facility including programming ESS panels, configuring network and assignment of IPs, configuring devices and ensuring all items are prepared for onsite installation\n\nPack and coordinate with BCF logistics to ship equipment to site\n\nSupport tooling, ensuring the proper tools are in working order, sent to field sites, and upon completion received from field and repaired if required\n\nSupport field personnel in the installation and testing of equipment and systems. This sometimes includes traveling to site to ensure the head-ends are installed correctly, and additional modifications are incorporated, and the system is working as required\n\nProgramming head-ends at customer site when required, typically for modifying/correcting items not previously identified in PITCO\n\nSupport the installation of systems in mobile platforms and fixed facilities\n\nMust be able to travel as needed\n\nNon-Essential Duties\nPerform other duties as assigned\n\nSupervisory Responsibility\nThis position provides assistance to field personnel and technicians during installation and System Acceptance Test (SAT).\n\nMinimum Qualifications\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.\n\nEducation and Experience\n\nBachelor's degree from accredited institution (preferred majors Engineering or Engineering Technology, Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Computer Science, or related engineering field) and 5 years of experience in the design and installation of ESS systems. If no Bachelor's degree, must have 10 years of experience in the design and installation of ESS systems.\n\n8+ years of experience in security systems including CCTV, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Access Control Systems (ACS) preferred\n\nESS system certifications preferred (Hirsh, Lenel, Genetec, Vindicator, CCURE, AMAG, or similar)\n\nComputer Skills\n\nSkilled in operating a personal computer and standard office equipment\n\nMust have advanced proficiency in a variety of computer software applications in word processing and spreadsheets (MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint)\n\nCertificates, Licenses, Registrations, Clearance\n\nMust possess (or be able to obtain and maintain) an active DoD Secret security clearance\n\nCompetencies\n\nESS system analysis - Reads requirements and puts together system diagrams and components.\n\nPerform accurate estimates for amount of work to perform installation tasks for the purpose of proposals and estimates to complete\n\nProblem Solving - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situations; and uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics\n\nWritten Communication - Writes clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar; varies writing style to meet needs; presents numerical data effectively; and able to read and interpret written information\n\nDiversity - Shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences; and promotes a harassment- free environment\n\nEthics - Treats people with respect; keeps commitments; inspires the trust of others; works with integrity and ethically; and upholds organizational values\n\nPlanning/Organizing - Prioritize and plans work activities; uses time efficiently; plans for additional resources; sets goals and objectives; organizes or schedules other people and their tasks, if needed; and develops realistic action plans\n\nProfessionalism - Approaches others in a tactful manner; reacts well under pressure; treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; accepts responsibility for own actions; follows through on commitments; must show pride in workmanship\n\nLanguage Skills - Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets governmental regulations.
