More information at: www.beyondgravity.com\n\nThe Quality Engineer ensures compliance with aerospace quality standards and customer requirements throughout the production of composite components for launch vehicles and space systems. This role provides technical expertise in quality assurance, supports manufacturing and integration activities, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to maintain product integrity and mission success.\nThe Quality Engineer works independently on complex quality tasks, including nonconformance investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation. The position collaborates closely with design engineering, production teams, and program quality leadership to ensure that composite structures meet stringent performance and reliability standards.\n\nYour Mission\nQuality Planning & Compliance\nEnsure composite manufacturing processes comply with AS9100, ISO 9001, and customer-specific requirements.\nSupport development and maintain inspection plans, quality checklists, and process documentation.\nInspection & Verification\nOversee completion and compliance of in-process and final inspections of composite layup, curing, machining, and assembly operations though the configured product documentation (Traveler / MWI / IR).\nValidate conformance to engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions (Red line process included).\nNonconformance Management\nIdentification, documentation, and resolution of nonconformances via ERP requirements (NCR/photo documentation/technical and or test reports)\nLead investigations of nonconformances and process deviations.\nDrive effective RCCA/CAPA activities using structured problem-solving tools (8D, Fishbone, FMEA).\nRisk Management\nConduct PFMEA and risk assessments for composite manufacturing processes.\nImplement preventive measures to reduce quality risks and improve reliability.\nData Analysis & Reporting\nAnalyze quality metrics and trends to identify systemic issues.\nPrepare detailed reports for internal reviews and customer audits.\nCustomer & Supplier Interface\nSupport customer audits and quality reviews.\nCollaborate with supplier quality to resolve material or process-related quality issues.\nContinuous Improvement\nLead initiatives to improve composite manufacturing processes and reduce defects.\nSupport lean and Six Sigma projects to enhance efficiency and quality performance.\nDocumentation & ERP Systems\nMaintain accurate quality records in ERP/PLM systems (e.g., SAP, Teamcenter).\nEnsure traceability and configuration control for composite components\n\nYour Story\nAssociates degree or a minimum of 2–5+ years in aerospace or high-reliability manufacturing, with hands-on experience in composite production. Relevant background in an applicable advanced manufacturing industry of similar customer and regulatory requirements considered in lieu of.\nAble to process and analyze data quickly both in and out of SAP/Siemens, identifying areas for correction or reconciliation before and during customer acceptance reviews.\nMust have a strong understanding of quality functions, manufacturing requirements and non-conformance package generation.\nIn-depth knowledge of composite manufacturing processes: layup, curing, machining, bonding, and assembly. Configured product understanding\nStrong understanding of aerospace standards such as ISO9000, AS/EN9100, ECSS, NASA and MIL\nFamiliarity of quality management software; experience in MS Office and data analytics skills\nFamiliarity of RCCA/CAPA methods (5-why,8D, Fishbone diagrams).\nProficiency to risk analysis concepts (PFMEA) quality planning and process control plans.\nAbility to effectively work independently, or a team setting executing actions for deliverables\nExcellent critical thinking, analytical and interpersonal skills\nHigh level of enthusiasm and a passion for quality and continuous improvements\nComfort around upper management and customer teams\nCustomer focus through timely decision making with quality requirements\nClear and concise written and verbal communication (Not afraid to ask the tough questions)\n5% to 10% ability to travel nationally and internationally as required\n\nAre you ready for lift-off?\nOur core values - Passionate, Together, and Curious - transform challenges into opportunities.
