Join Our Mission to Strengthen Families Across Virginia!We're seeking a dedicated Bilingual CRAFFT Trainer to empower and support resource, kinship, adoptive, and foster families throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.The Bilingual CRAFFT Trainer supports local agencies' efforts in training and developing resource, kinship, adoptive, and foster families in the commonwealth of Virginia in partnership with the Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS). This role is responsible for coordinating and delivering pre-service and in-service training in collaboration with the CRAFFT team statewide while ensuring services are accessible to non English speaking families. Additionally, this position supports the home study process by completing Bilingual Mutual Family Assessments (MFA) as needed to ensure the safety, permanency, and well-being of children in Virginia's child welfare system.Tasks & Responsibilities Collaborate with regional CRAFFT Coordinators to accept referrals for pre-service training from Local Departments of Social Services (LDSS)Provide pre-service and inservice training in Spanish (and English as needed) for prospective kinship, foster, and adoptive parents using designated approved VDSS curricula (e.g., NTDC)Create process and coordinate pre-service and inservice training for all non english speaking families with CRAFFT coordinators and local DSS agencies to ensure accessibility and appropriate language resource provisionFacilitate group and one-on-one pre-service training in Spanish (and English as needed), including scheduled series and make-up sessionsDevelop flexible training schedules to accommodate families' diverse needs (daytime, evening, weekend, and creative scheduling)Maintain a weekly and monthly calendar of training; document all scheduled, completed, and cancelled sessionsAttend and present information as needed at regularly scheduled regional roundtable meetings with LDSS staff and stakeholders to provide resources regarding resource parent development and trainingWork with CRAFFT Program Manager and coordinators to support statewide CRAFFT initiatives and special projectsComplete as needed the entire home study process for kinship care, foster care and adoption, including the completion of Mutual Family Assessments (MFA) in Spanish (and English as needed)Attend and observe prospective families in pre-service training to follow up on issues or concerns raised by trainers or agency staff.Create process and coordinate MFA for all non english speaking families with MFA Supervisors and local DSS agencies to ensure accessibility and appropriate language resource provisionSubmit written reports as requiredParticipate in monthly conference calls and travel as needed to attend statewide meetings and trainingsOther duties as assignedSpecial Requirements Occasional travel throughout Virginia is required and is on an as needed basisThis is a telework position that requires a flexible schedule, including frequent night and weekend work to accommodate family training and assessment needsSalary commensurate with experienceGrant Funded, Restricted positionMinimum Qualifications Must be fluent in English and Spanish with the ability to conduct professional training and write comprehensive assessments in both languagesMinimum of a Bachelor's degree in a human services field (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology) or equivalent combination of education, training, and experienceMinimum of two years of experience in child welfare within a public or private settingDemonstrated excellence in interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communicationProficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams)Proven experience delivering engaging presentationsDemonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCUPreferred Qualifications Prior employment with a local DSS as a Resource Family, Foster Care, Adoptions, or CPS WorkerExtensive experience facilitating training for kinship/foster/adoptive parents and writing home assessmentsMaster's degree is highly preferredBenefits All full-time university staff are eligible for VCU's robust benefits package that includes comprehensive health benefits, paid annual and holiday leave, generous tuition benefits, retirement planning and savings options, tax-deferred annuity and cash match programs, employee discounts, well-being resources, abundant opportunities for career development and advancement, and more.FLSA Exemption Status: ExemptHours per Week: 40Restricted Position: YesORP Eligible: NoUniversity Job Title: Education Specialist 1, Community Engagement & OutreachContact Name: Naomi Reddish, nrreddish@vcu.edu#J-18808-Ljbffr
