You will also be responsible for upgrading and migrating Solr indexes, integrating with Oracle databases and SAP Business Intelligence reporting frameworks, and implementing secure coding practices that meet government security requirements.\nThe successful candidate will collaborate closely with software developers, database engineers, infrastructure teams, cybersecurity personnel, and business stakeholders to ensure successful system modernization with minimal operational disruption.\nEssential Job Functions:\nApplication Development & Modernization\nDesign, develop, maintain, and modernize enterprise Java applications supporting mission-critical government systems.\nPlan and execute application and technology stack upgrades while minimizing operational impact.\nDevelop and maintain Java and Python applications running on Windows-based VMware infrastructure.\nRefactor and modernize legacy application code using current development standards and best practices.\nImplement secure coding practices in accordance with federal cybersecurity and compliance requirements.\nParticipate in code reviews and promote software development best practices.\nInfrastructure & Systems Integration\nUpgrade, configure, and maintain Apache Solr clusters using ZooKeeper.\nPlan and execute Solr version upgrades, including index migration and optimization.\nConfigure, deploy, and maintain Apache Tomcat application servers.\nIntegrate enterprise applications with Oracle 19c databases.\nSupport directory services integration using Apache Directory Studio.\nDevelop and maintain integrations with SAP Business Intelligence reporting environments.\nTroubleshoot application, middleware, and integration issues across the technology stack.\nCollaboration & Documentation\nCollaborate with software developers, database administrators, infrastructure engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and business stakeholders.\nSupport system testing, validation, and deployment activities during modernization efforts.\nCreate and maintain technical documentation, including system architecture, upgrade procedures, deployment guides, and operational documentation.\nIdentify opportunities to improve application performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.\nRequired Skills:\nDue to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.\nAbility to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.\n13+ years of experience in software engineering, systems engineering, information technology, or a closely related field.\nA Bachelor's degree may substitute for 4 years of experience.\nA Master's degree may substitute for 6 years of experience.\nExtensive experience developing enterprise Java applications.\nStrong experience developing applications in Python.\nExperience supporting applications deployed on Windows-based VMware infrastructure.\nExpertise with Apache Solr and ZooKeeper, including Solr upgrades, index migration, replication, and optimization.\nExperience administering and deploying applications on Apache Tomcat.\nExperience with Apache Directory Studio and LDAP directory integration.\nExperience integrating applications with Oracle 19c and other relational database management systems.\nExperience supporting SAP Business Intelligence reporting environments.\nStrong understanding of secure software development practices and secure coding standards.\nExperience modernizing and upgrading enterprise software applications in production environments.\nExcellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nDesired Skills:\nExperience developing applications using the PrimeFaces UI framework.\nActive TS/SCI clearance with an in-scope polygraph.\nExperience supporting federal government or Department of Defense (DoD) information systems.\nExperience working in Agile software development environments.\nFamiliarity with DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment tools.\nAdditional Requirements:\nPreferred Work Location: Candidates located in or near Annapolis Junction, Maryland; Washington, D.C.; or Reston, Virginia are preferred.\nTelework: This position is eligible for telework in accordance with contract requirements and Government approval.
