With more than 8,200 employees, John Cockerill achieved a turnover of € 1.644 billion in 2025 in 27 countries, on 5 continents.\n\nThe Process Project Engineering is responsible for the design and implementation of process control systems for John Cockerill Industries North America industrial heat‑treating furnace equipment.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nWork as part of the engineering team in execution of industrial projects in the field of industrial furnaces for the steel industry.\n\nProvide technical support and problem resolution as needed.\n\nReview contract specifications, develop project plan from engineering through installation that is in compliance with the required standards, including developing timelines, budget and design reviews.\n\nCreation of process flow and process and instrumentation diagrams.\n\nSizing of relevant fluid process equipment and creation of technical specification.\n\nParticipate in risk analyses (FMEA, HAZOP etc.)\n\nCoordinate with the purchasing department to order materials for all parts and components needed to complete a project.\n\nValidate technical choices.\n\nRequest quotes and manage vendors to ensure fair market prices and quality control for all work that is outsourced.\n\nGenerate operational philosophy descriptions, perform startup and shutdown analysis and generate performance test protocols.\n\nFacilitate cross‑departmental design review meetings to ensure feedback on designs from all departments.\n\nMay perform field management assessments, audits and customer service.\n\nWork with the Sales team to identify customer requirements regarding process control equipment, calculations and assist in preparing proposals.\n\nRequirements\n\nBachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field of study\n\nFive (5) years of experience in a field related to the conception of industrial furnaces.\n\nWork experience must have included:\n\nKnowledge and technical orientation of electrical processes in the steel and/or furnace industry\n\nKnowledge of thermal and structural parts of a furnace\n\nKnowledge of the interaction between heat and various metals\n\nExperience with ACAD drawings\n\nExperienced with development and implementation of hardwired and PLC based control systems\n\nExperienced with development of PLC applications for sequential and process control using Allen‑Bradley ControlLogix and Siemens S7 PLC equipment\n\nExperienced with pneumatic and hydraulic control design\n\nExperience with the following safety standards: NEC and NFPA 86\n\nExperience with the following programs: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, AutoCad, Allen‑Bradley ControlLogix 5000 and Siemens Step7.\n\nRequired to travel both in the USA and abroad for customer meetings and occasional equipment commissioning or service 25% of the time.\n\nJob Site\n\n435 W.
