In this position, you’ll combine analytics, reporting, and cross-functional collaboration to identify reliability challenges, support strategic priorities, and help strengthen the electric distribution system.\n\nWhat You’ll Do\n\nMaintain reliability records, templates, annual files, documentation, databases, and reporting tools for Minnesota Power and Superior Water, Light and Power programs.\nCoordinate annual reliability data updates, including customer counts, feeder mileage and density, storm exclusions, and REM database updates.\nPerform outage data entry and review outage events for accuracy, completeness, eligibility, storm exclusion status, and metric impacts.\nPrepare quarterly reliability reports, benchmarking submissions, and other performance reporting materials, including metrics, outage narratives, goals, trends, and supporting documentation.\nIdentify and document large outage events, PUC-reportable outages, and other significant reliability events in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.\nAnalyze outage trends, feeder performance, recurring issues, regional results, crew feedback, and system data to identify improvement opportunities and support reliability best practices, design standards, and related initiatives.\nCoordinate cross-functional reliability improvement projects and communicate findings, recommendations, meeting outcomes, and project priorities to leadership and project teams.\n\nWhat You'll bring\n\nBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field; equivalent utility experience.\nAbility to analyze and interpret data, identify trends, validate results, and develop practical recommendations.\nStrong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills with attention to detail and data accuracy.\nEffective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical reports, summarize findings, and present recommendations to a variety of audiences.\nAbility to collaborate across teams, build working relationships with field and office personnel, and manage multiple priorities and recurring deadlines.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with Power BI, data visualization, or reporting tools is preferred.\nAbility to travel occasionally, as required to support position responsibilities.\nValid driver's license.\n\nHow to Stand Out\n\nUtility engineering internship experience.\nKnowledge of electric distribution systems, outage management processes, reliability metrics, and utility operations.\nExperience working with engineering, operational, GIS, outage management, or other utility-related data systems preferred.\nProfessional Engineer license.\n\nAbout Us\n\nMinnesota Power, an ALLETE company, is an electric utility headquartered in Duluth, Minnesota.
