DEVELOPMENT OPERATIONS & ADMINISTRATION MANAGER LOCATION: Morgan’s STATUS: Exempt Full-Time SALARY: $50,000-70,000 REPORTS TO: Chief Development Officer (CDO) POSITION SUMMARY The Development Operations and Administration Manager is responsible for supporting the successful implementation of the fundraising program for all organizational entities. The Development Operations and Administration Manager will oversee and improve the operational aspects of the development department, while assisting the Development Team with all administrative functions of the department. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Demonstrate adherence to the mission, vision, and values of Morgan’s Represent Development in all administrative functions within Morgan’s and its related entities– coordinates with other departments and Development to maximize efficiency and develop effective processes that ensures that donors are effectively cultivated, thanked, and retained as allies and supporters of Morgan’s. Point of Contact for all vendors and logistical partners. Handle all scheduling for the CDO and Development Team. With directive from the Chief Development Officer, develop strategy and oversee implementation of strategy for government, foundation and individual donors. Provide support to founder, CEO and CDO upon donors of focus Manage the development database and gifts processing, ensure accurate record-keeping, and provide reporting and briefings as strategic to CEO and CDO. Coordinate fundraising events and campaigns as needed, including supporting the communications associated with the Gala. Produce $100k+ in revenue per year, while enabling other managers, CDO, etc. to focus on new revenue over compliance and administration. Support the administrative management of the donor database, including data integrity, updates, and corrections Enter gifts and relevant donor data into the donor database maintaining a high level of accuracy while also producing acknowledgment letters/tax receipts while checking for grammatical/typographical mistakes and knowledge of practical tax receipting protocol In coordination with the CDO and in accordance with the development plan, the Development Operations and Administration Manager may develop and submit proposals for grant requests for funds from private foundations, corporations, and other funding sources to support all programs and projects, meeting associated deadlines. Develop solicitation letters and write compelling grant proposals to secure new donor commitments and renewals. Solicit and prepare proposals and reports for all grant and funder applications including private foundations, corporate entities, and government organizations; persuasively communicating the organization’s mission and programs to potential funders. Assists with developing fundraising strategies and activities for acknowledgment, recognition, and stewardship of donors. Work directly with the finance team regarding all incoming revenue and documentation Assist with data collection and analysis from all entities Create and manage invoices and collections for the development department Generate queries, reports, exports, and any other data collection as needed QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in development or fundraising in the nonprofit community, with a demonstrated focus on operations and administration Familiarity with various fundraising programs, including annual giving, capital gifts, and corporate giving, and an understanding of the legal and tax implications for giving. Thorough knowledge of (and preferably top-level contacts with) major sources of funding, including foundations, corporations, and individuals. Interest and ability to support increased facility usage and increased revenue Excellent written and oral communication, public speaking and presentation, and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this position. A Bachelor’s Degree in human services, social services, business, or equivalent is preferred. Must be able to understand Altru and Raiser’s Edge software systems or be able to learn within 60 days of the hire date. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word etc.) A positive attitude and mature personality conducive to effectively dealing with prospective donors and their professional advisors. Ability to work productively and positively in a team-oriented environment. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a fast-paced office environment. Visual acuity is required for reading computer screens and/or documents and making changes as necessary/required. Job requires accuracy and attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills, while maintaining high levels of initiative to work within deadlines. This position requires analytical abilities and multitasking to identify problems and recommend solutions. Off-Hours work required from time to time, including evenings and weekends. Ability to work remotely when necessary. Occasional stooping and bending with regular lifting of up to 20 pounds is required. Incumbent must be able to stand for long periods of time, as well as be able to use keyboards, telephone keypads, and writing utensils. Uses best practices and demonstrates up-to-date knowledge and skills in technology Support fundraising events through planning and implementation Additional development and fundraising duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: 1-3 years in development, fundraising, or administration in the nonprofit community Familiarity with various types of fundraising programs, including but limited to annual giving, capital gifts, and individual giving and an understanding of the legal and tax implications for gifting.
