As part of our work, we also initiate and foster collaborations with other research teams in Alphabet. AI Foundations areas that we are currently focusing on include reinforcement learning, learning from demonstration, generative modeling, Bayesian inference, hierarchical learning, and robust evaluation.\nIn this hybrid role, you will report to a Senior Research Scientist.\nYou will:\nParticipate in Waymo’s foundation model post-training and evaluation\nDevelop cutting edge RL and Distillation techniques for Autonomous Vehicle Trajectory Planning\nIntegrate emerging research from the broader AI community into Waymo’s internal infrastructure, conducting rigorous ablations to identify and scale the most promising methods\nCollaborate with other teams to share techniques developed in the AI Foundations teams to other teams at Waymo\nIntegrate Waymo’s multimodal models into simulators of different levels of fidelity\nYou have:\nBachelor degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience\nProficiency in writing and debugging python/numpy-style code\nA willingness to work with complexity of globally distributed inference infrastructure\nWe prefer:\nExperience with large scale (many-machine) training infrastructure and techniques for inference with large models such as model sharding/tensor-parallel\nReinforcement Learning infrastructure experience\nLarge scale distributed inference experience\nThe expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
