Job SummaryThe Tank Fitter Welder uses hand welding, flame cutting, hand soldering, or brazing equipment to weld, repair or join metal plate or structural components or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products to build and fabricate storage tanks.Essential FunctionsWeld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positionsOperate safety equipment and use safe work habitsRecognize, set up and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipmentKnowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality controlKnowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenanceKnowledge of arithmeticOperate welding machinesLay out, fits and welds fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms, such as tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, and within all heavy constructionKnowledge of welding and metallurgy (SMAW,FCAW, GTAW, GMAW, SAW)Welds metal components together to fabricate or repair productsPerform daily maintenance and safety checksGenerate and maintain accurate job aid for duties assignedEnsure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company’s safety culturePerform other duties as requested, directed, or assignedEducation And Experience RequirementsHigh School Diploma or GED requiredAt least 3 years’ experience as a WelderAbility to pass a weld test (stick, tig, sub-arc, fluxcore, or mig)Working on API Storage Tanks; new construction & repairSkills / Key CompetenciesAbility to read and interpret blueprints and drawingsMath/Amps, Volt rangesKnowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenanceExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExercise discretion and independent judgement when handling day to day informationExcellent time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing prioritiesAbility to work cooperatively across all levels delivering on commitments – results orientedAbility to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detailAbility to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlinesAbility to work non-routine hours, when necessaryAbility and willingness to travel as requiredPhysical RequirementsAbility to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areasWorking at heights and tight spacesMoving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to anotherAbility to operate job related toolsConstantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingersWork that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with helpBay Ltd. is an Equal Opportunity Employer
