At our essence, we are thinkers, innovators, and problem solvers, leveraging our knowledge of materials to create customized solutions for our customers.Join us in our dedication to making a tangible impact through our advanced materials and superior products.OverviewThe main responsibility of Melt Shop - Production is manufacturing processes including, preparation of raw materials to be melted into ingots and the overall operation of the melt shop.Education & Experience Requirements2-3 years' experience in melting or a melt-related field preferred.Job Responsibilities:Utilize company ERP system to issue and report out raw materials to scheduled jobs.• Weigh raw materials for compacting and record material weights in compact process spreadsheet. Weight accuracy out to 0.01 gram• Mix raw materials and load mixture into press to create compacts.• Operate press to create compacts from raw material mix.• Weld compacts into logs and prepare consumable electrodes for the melt process.• Operate horizontal band saw to crop and prepare primary ingots for electrodes to be melted, inspected, and analyzed.• Operate overhead crane to maneuver material ingots to different processes in the melt shop.• Rig ingots weighing up to 4000 lb using existing straps and tools to move them.• Prepare and palletize shipments to be sent out for conversion work.• Operate forklift to transport electrodes, ingots, billets, and raw materials to and from shipping area.• Ensure all safety procedures and processes are thoroughly followed and maintained, especially during the operation of equipment.• Assist the Melt Technician in the servicing and cleaning the crucible ensuring it is properly prepared for the next load to melt.• Perform other duties as requested by management.Skills Needed:Accurately record production data (spool size, wire size, shape of the wire, etc).Mechanical AptitudeWorking Conditions & Physical Requirements:Fast-paced production environment.Overtime may sometimes be necessary.Work hours consist of 40 hours per week.Appropriate PPE must be worn where posted and required.Average weights in production range from 1 - 25 lbs.Substantial reaching, bending, and pulling during shift.Must be able to access all areas of operation, including second floors.Standing/walking most of shift.Visual Acuity.This position is in a clean, climate-controlled facility!Benefits & Wellness ResourcesThe health and well-being of Fort Wayne Metals is a critical part of our culture.
