{"schemaVersion":"jobsearcher.job.v1","id":"42f86ec380b7be40175ca2e9","url":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/42f86ec380b7be40175ca2e9","canonicalUrl":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/42f86ec380b7be40175ca2e9","title":"Cable Technician – Structured Cabling","description":"Cable Technician – Structured Cabling / Data Center\n\n*Location:* Shepherdsville, KY 40165\n*Pay:* $20–$26/hour, W2, depending on experience\n*Job Type:* Contract – approximately 10 weeks\n*Schedule:* Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM\n*Start Date:* Wednesday, September 2, 2026\n*No weekends*\n\nWe are hiring *2 Cable Technicians* for a commercial low-voltage infrastructure project in Shepherdsville, KY.\n\nProject Scope\n\nTechnicians will support the buildout of low-voltage infrastructure at a large distribution center, including:\n\n* Installing new *Category 6A data drops*\n* Building out a new *IDF and fiber backbone*\n* Migrating CCTV cameras and wireless access points\n* Removing several hundred abandoned cables across five IDF locations\n* Installing, terminating, labeling, testing, and certifying structured cabling\n\nResponsibilities\n\n* Pull, support, terminate, dress, label, and certify Cat 6A cable\n* Install cable through tray, J-hooks, and overhead warehouse pathways\n* Build and clean up IDF closets, including racks, patch panels, and cable management\n* Terminate and test fiber optic backbone connections\n* Rerun and reterminate CCTV and wireless access point drops\n* Remove abandoned cabling in accordance with NEC 800.25\n* Read and follow prints, SOWs, and cable schedules\n* Document daily progress with photos, time tracking, and as-built notes\n* Coordinate with project leadership and other trades\n* Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment\n\nRequirements\n\n* Hands-on experience with *commercial structured cabling*\n* Experience terminating copper cabling, including *jacks, patch panels, and keystones*\n* Comfortable working from ladders and aerial lifts while following fall-protection requirements\n* Ability to lift up to *50 lbs.* and perform overhead work\n* Strong attention to detail and documentation skills\n* Available for the *full project duration: September 2 through approximately November 13*\n* Valid driver's license and clean MVR\n* Must pass a *background check and motor vehicle record review*\n* Reliable transportation to the Shepherdsville job site\n* Own basic hand tools and required PPE\n\nPreferred Experience\n\n* Cat 6A installation and certification\n* Fiber optic termination and testing\n* IDF buildouts and rack/patch-panel installation\n* *Fluke DSX* certification\n* CCTV and wireless access point installation\n* Data center, distribution center, warehouse, or large commercial projects\n\nPay: $23.00 -
